With the Roam feature that you can use while moving, my question is anyone utilized this feature. Have you placed the antenna on the interior and have any success?

Yes I had it on a pole mount inside my RV so it was near the ceiling and as far from roof obstructions as practical.
I have generation 2 - Dishy and it did move so obstruction clearance was necessary.
It seemed to work normally but hard to tell as I would have to test it with different gear and be certain that cell service didn't fill in too many gaps. In other words.... need a copilot to run tests while I drive.

We have the mounted version on the roof. It works great. Yes it is spendy but we never have to set it up and run cable to the router. We have wifi 100% of the time while traveling.

Should work fine, the number of satellites in orbit is substantial. They have Starlink on airplanes doing +/-500mph. It should have no issue working at 65mph.

I guess in my type of travel by RV, if I can't reserve a specific spot in at least a broken canopy of trees, being able to move a portable dish around to get better reception seems the logical choice over permanent mounting on the RV roof.
I spend way more time using the dish while parked than underway.
I am looking at moving to the Gen 3 dish as it doesn't move to find satellites and it would be perfect for laying on the top of the bed over the driving positions (no roof clutter)..... and it would still be portable to set in the best location outside.
True that setting it up outside (if necessary) takes time, but a minute or two extra in a total RV setup is hardly an inconvenience to me, especially if it means normal reception over a no or spotty reception.
My Gen 2 and I will bet the Gen 3 dishes will work fine inside the average coach with normal roofs and no obstructions nearby.

I mounted my mini on the roof, bolted to a block of aluminum which is VHB taped to the roof. For portability, I bought weather proof extension connectors and have additional power and CAT6 data cables. I can unclip the mini, connect the extension cables, and now I can put the mini on the ground where I might have less obstructions.
So far so good.

We just got the Mini and have used it a couple of times already, once being able to just put it on our roof (Class A diesel) and once had to put it about 30' away to avoid tree cover.
I'm curious if you've tested your mounted set up under tree cover - if the antenna is sensitive enough to still work even if there's moderate obstruction? My understanding is that the mounted/mobile version literally has more sensors inside than the various portable, non-mobile antennae like the Mini so should be better able to handle obstruction, but curious if you have real-world experience with that?

Starlink on Roof
I put my Gen 3 on the roof with TRIO mount/with magnets.
Ran the 50' cable from above the Drivers Panel down the (A) pillar to the front (above the Generator). To be used if I have to remove the Antenna from the roof.
Purchase a 33' cable and was LUCKY we had the Satellite Prep. Ran this cable in that conduit to the Drivers Panel to Antenna.
Seven months and Zero problems with Connections. This past 4 months in Texas the Antenna is 19 degrees out of the (perfect) box. And haven't Buffered Once.
The mount is spendy, its Stout, it's always ''set up'', installed and happy.

I've got mine on the roof with the speed mount, using magnets. Works while driving, and most of my camping doesn't have lots of trees. I can pop it off if I have obstructions to move it around. I tired it on the dash, and it worked, though not as well as on the roof.

Hello Ron, I have the Gen 3 and just purchased the Trio Speedmount for the roof installation on my Ventana. I have the satellite prep up in the driver's panel also and was hoping that would make the installation easier. It seems like the perfect location since there is power up there also. Can you tell me where the cable terminates on the roof? Thanks in advance for any word of wisdom!
