Step cover retraction issue

Each time I retract to step cover I have to physically push the step back to the full retracted position. How do I adjust the cover?

Thank you

Going to need some info on your coach , Year?
Folding step cover ?

Please consider setting up a Signature Line , so your RV info will appear below your posts and you don't have to type it in every time.

i suggest getting a spray can of lubricant such as CRC which you can find at any auto parts store. Crawl under and spray each joint then operate the steps. Be careful not to be in the way of the steps when operating as they are very powerful. WD40 is a poor choice for lubricant as it evaporates quickly.
I lube mine at least twice per year.
