Steps

We are ordering a new DS. We have the height adjusting steps. We would like to have them on our new DS but they are not offered. Does anyone know if you can get them as a custom add on

What are height adjusting steps? We have a LA with 3 steps operated hydraulically. But do not think they are height adjustable.

The height adjusting steps were circa 2015 DSDP and maybe other models. The 2017 LADP steps are HWH hyd. operated. In a sense they are also height adjusting in the fact that when opening, if they contact the ground or a curb they will stop and stay where they are. The HWH steps will retract from there when you close the door. My understanding of the height adjusting steps, they were a design by Matt Miller and were not very well received by the industry due to chance of injury to operator. Michelle Howard would be your best source for availability on a new coach. I have seen both, have the newer HWH and like the HWH better.

Newmar Said Not Possible

We ordered a new DS in October, and requested those steps as a "special". Answer was that the selection is not possible on a 2018 DS because it requires an entirely different chassis configuration in that area from what is currently provided.

Too bad... we really liked the look of them and they seem to be more robust. But we had the same steps as we will get on the new coach in our Monaco Diplomat for 9 years of operation with no problems, so not a big deal to us.
