Steps freewheeling and motor running

We have a 2017 Newmar Ventana. This morning I fueled up and got in coach and I heard a strange sound. The steps were not coming in or down. Just freewheeling. I could hear the step motor but nothing happened. We were leaving for Pismo Beach and on to Paso Robles for a rally. Cinched them up and off we went. Not sure what has happened My thought is a gear has lost grip ie: tooth. Will call Newmar tomorrow am. Does anyone have another idea? Does anyone know what a new motor would go for? Have put in a call to a mobile tech.
Thanks for any info...

PJ We are here in Paso Robles for the Newmar rally. It sounds like a bracket is broken or damaged. Could also be a bolt has fallen out. For right now till you get here might just use tie wraps or duct tape to hold in so it is more damaged by hitting something while traveling. We are in site 91 and will look at it when you get here.

We will be in spot 53 on Wednesday. The steps will not. I'm having someone come look tomorrow. But I think it will have to be something from Newmar.... Will call Newmar tomorrow am for suggestions.
Will look forward to meeting you.

When ours did the same thing, the linkage turnbuckle had broken.
Etrailer could get the part faster than Lippert.

The linkage turnbuckle, as noted above could be your cause. They often break if you step on the step before it's fully extended. If it's the turnbuckle, there is a great RV store near the campground that stocks primarily parts, not a bunch of junk.

steps freewheeling

Just talked with Newmar. They seem to think it could be a linkage problem since we can hear the motor running. Got prices on both linkage w/gear and a New Motor. Hoping to hear from a mobile technician this morning.
Lifting my dog in and out is becoming a chore for me and she doesn't like it much either. Anything else I'm missing?
Thanks

Well called all the mobile techs around Pismo. Can't get anyone out here until late tomorrow or Weds. We leave Wednesday for Wine Country RV Resort in Paso Robles.
Will be there till Monday. Not having steps is a pain. Nothing else to do but put up with it. Thanks for the responses

Are you at Wine Country or the Vines for the Newmar Rally starting tomorrow. If at the Vines, I would be willing to take a look at it for you. It should be obvious. We'll be there tomorrow.

Dutch Star Don and Tom Chelbana... Didn't know anything about a Newmar Rally at the Vines. We will be at Wine Country RV at a rally of The Dolphins Club until Monday Morning.
