Sticking Fantastic Roof Vent

Tried silicone spray on the rubber seals, little vasoline on the plastic guide protruding, replaced the covers, and still when they are not used for a while they stick enough that the motor can't push them open. Once i crawl on the roof and wiggle them loose then they go up and down easily the rest of the trip. Until they sit again for a while and it happens again. Anybody else have this problem?

We have the same problem.

Fortunatly there is a knob to manualy open the vent, so I just give it a turn to help the motor.

Happy Glamping.

I used 303 protestant on the rubber seals on our prior coach that would have the same problem. Have not had an issue with our current coach yet though.

Thanks all for the help,Unplanned, will try that, simple, I see the knob turning might just give it a nudge. Kenc, totally forgot 303 spray, makes sense, the company says the rubber degrades over time and sticks. They gave me new seals free but when i went to take the old ones off I realize it would be a lot of ripping and scraping, they were not going to come off easily. Trying to maintain/restore what i have seems like a better option. Gpshay, will try talcum powder if the 303 doesn't do it.

I put talcum in a sock .. in doing so the powder passes through the sock and then you can keep the powder from squirting where you don't want it to go .. that work pretty well ..

There is or should be a rubber stopper so to speak that the hood of the fan comes down on to prevent vibration. That is usually where the binding takes place. Try unscrewing it and see what happens, (screw goes through the middle of it into the plastic frame.) If this does correct your issue, (it should,) you can trim some of the rubber off of it to lesson the friction on the lid or just leave it off.

I had the sticking problem on my previous MH. They sent me a couple packets of 303 to wipe on the rubber gasket. Did that every couple years and never had any more problems.
