Stopper in bathroom sink won't pop up
The chrome stopper in both my sinks will stop the water from draining when pushed down. But when pushed on again for it to pop up and let water drain from the sink it won't pop up. Usually have to either keep pushing down on it until it will finally pop back up, or unscrew the round chrome plate until it can be pulled up by hand.
Is there something else I could do to fix the stopper so it will pop up with just one push down and release? On a 2015 4018 DS.

Something is making it stick. Maybe clean it with some vinegar and baking soda.

Or just replace it. They’re cheap at the big box stores and it’s easy to do.

You may need to get under the sink & adjust the stopper push rod - stainless steel V clips on the push rod- pinch V clip together to slide up or down on the rod & adjust it so it raises the stopper higher. Try this first!

Another thought- you may also have to adjust & reengage the stopper lifter rod- the one that's between the V clips that goes into the stopper tongue - you remove the nut on the side of the drain pipe & check to see if the lifter rod is in a hole in the stopper tongue- operate it by hand a few times to ensure it's lifting your stopper up high enough & also lowering it enough to seal. Some stopper tongues have multiple holes in them to allow for greater vertical movement of the stopper. Reinstall the lifter rod & packing nut & snug it a little- ensure it raises & lowers easily & smoothly. Reattach it to the lifter rod & adjust V clips to allow full movement range of stopper.

The plunger and spring get loaded with crud and periodically, I unscrew the thing and soak it in vinegar for an hour, brush it off and soak again. Then it will work for another 6 to 12 months.

To access the mechanism remove the stopper by unscrewing counter clockwise. You can then remove the brass mechanism by grabbing it with a pair of pliers and agin unscrewing CCW. Once you have it out remove the small screw and disassemble the 2 brass parts (outer housing & operating shaft) spring and catch rod. Clean them up, lube them and reassemble.
You can find the replacement part on line about $5 or less if you prefer to replace rather than clean & lube.

As mentioned above, a thorough cleaning is your starting point. Additionally, check the 'o' ring on the edge of the chrome stopper to ensure its in good shape. Replace if it's gouged or cut; otherwise, clean it as well. I recommend putting some waterproof silicone grease (available at any hardware store) on the pop-up shaft and a very light amount spread on the 'o' ring. This has worked well for me (especially on D/W's side of the sinks) for a long-term fix.

Checked the Internet and unable to find anything that resembles the chrome round stopper that is in my 2015 DS sinks. Still looking.

You retain and reuse the actual chrome stopper. You can just replace the actual pop up mechanism. Search for a "click clack" stopper you will find many sources.
