Store Mode?

I noticed in another thread that a number of units have a "Storage Mode". I don't think I have seen that switch in my unit. I have an '04 DSDP 40'. What does the Store Mode switch do" And where would it be?

THanx,

Should be in the passenger side cabinet, over the windshield. It will shut off your house batteries. There is a switch in the engine bay to switch off your chassis batteries.

Tom,

Thanx for the reply. I do know the switch you are speaking of, but if I throw that switch I cannot use any power in the coach, even if I am plugged in to a 110 line to keep the frig running or maybe th air moving with a fan or something with a real light electrical draw. So I guess when I am in store mode I would have no power available at all. Is this right? If I am plugged in to a 110 line will it continue to try to charge my house or coach (or both) series of batteries?

Hi Sundog17,
You are correct. With the switch in the store mode, there is no power to the coach circuits.

If you plug into 110 it will charge your house batteries, but not your chassis batteries, that are used to start the engine.

I believe my button says, "In Use" and "Storage". It's rocker switch on the right side of the panel described above.

USE/STORAGE is the house (Also called AUX) battery disconnect switch

USE=Connected=ON
Store=Mostly disconnected = Off

NOTE: some loads may still be present on the battery in "Store" mode

Hi Sundog17,
This may vary based on year and model of coach. Consider getting a meter and checking out how your coach is wired.

I am a new RVer since 8/2009. My coach is garaged. Under what circumstances should I use the "Store Mode" feature? Thanks.

Hi JoMar,
It all depends on if the coach is connected to shore power or not. If connected to shore power, I see no benefit to the store mode. If there is no shore power, store mode reduces the drain on the coach batteries. The coach batteries need to be monitored, during storage, to make sure they remain in float charge. They should not be over charged or allowed to completely discharge (< 12.3 VDC).

I was taught the most difficult thing an electrical device can do is start up.

If you are not plugged in and not living in you coach you should put it on store as this will keep your house batt. from drawing down. Once you plug in the charger will over ride the switch and will charge your house batt. if you have a volt meter you will get a reading of 13.2- 13.5 as this is the charge rate. You will notice the light over your switch will light once plugged in. Hope this helps you!!
