Strange question for owners of 2012 -2013 owners

We have been looking at the 2014 Dutch Star and they are beautiful coaches. We have a question that the saleman could not answer (while he should have). When opening the top drawer of cab. next to the sink there is a full piece of counter top that covers the entire drawer. It is removable with some difficulty we dont not what you use it for. Is it for a cutting board or cover for the induction range?? This drawer normally would be where you put the forks-spoons etc. In addition, if you have a 2 2014 Dutch Star How do you like it?

Probably a cutting board. I don't think you're expected to remove it, I think you're supposed to slide it back into the cabinet to get to the contents. But I'm not sure, since we don't have that in our unit.

I have a cutting board the width of the draw space and its not removable.
The board is made of the same material as the counter and pulls out until it stops.

It's a cutting board. Lots of coaches have them. It's not meant to be out at the same time as the drawer below it. It probably had a stop on it to prevent it from being pulled out too far.

On our 2012 Dutch Star we use this piece as only an extension of counter space. We do not use it as a cutting board because liquids could easily fall into the drawer below. The extension is concealed when the stack of drawers is retracted. It only covers about 1/3 of the utensil drawer below so we always use this additional counter space. The drawer stack release lever is operated by opening the top drawer, reaching into the drawer space and pressing up on the lever. We find it to be handy.

I appreciate all the comments but what is in this 2014 dutch Star is a top drawer that pulls out just like the rest of them but it has a piece of counter top material thaqt sits on top of the drawer. This piece has groves on each side which fit on the sides of the drawer. The piece is only 1/4 inch thick. Beneath it is the open space of a reg depth of a drawer. I know about cutting boards that pull our but they are usually thicker and individual pieces, I would not want to put a lot of cutting pressure on this drawer piece since I thinf the drawer hinges would not take it. Maybe someone who has a 2014 can identify this piece.

This is what our 2013 DS pull out counter looks like.
I thought 2014 was the same.

the 2014 dutch star is nothing like this. I am familiar with this type of cutting board but the one in this rv is on the top of the small drawer to the left of the sink. The drawer is the top one and is the size of the common silverware drawer. All the remaining drawers are the larger type. Somewhere I will find the answer. Might call Newmar and see what they say. When I go to the unit again I will take photo so people can see what I am talking about.
