Since Newmar doesn't use the one-piece W/D anymore in their 2015 units has anyone left out the W/D on the order then had the dealer install a one piece (particularly the Splendide) W/D after the coach was delivered? Just trying to figure out how to get rid of that crappy Whirlpool unit installed as an option. We've been fighting the 3-yr old Whirlpool washer at home for several weeks now and we never know if it will drain, spin, or do nothing when it should.
If the dealer can do this, can they do a decent looking job and not scratch up everything getting the one-piece in the door and down the walkway to the bathroom?
One salesman said their service dept could do it but I'm not sure what kind of job they'd do since I've never had any work done there.

One bad Whirlpool washer does not a rotten batch make. I'd be willing to bet that the one Newmar installs it a totally different model. We have the separate washer dryer units and love them and would not want the all in one units.

The stacked washer and dryer in our unit has operated flawlessly for 6 years. If I ever tried to change it to a onepiece splendide unit my wife would revolt. I feel the same as she and would never go back to a combination unit

Speaking as someone who has the Splendid combo I wish I had a two piece washer and dryer. Trust me you wont like the Splendid.

A good friend has a MA with a combo unit. Hates it!! He says it takes forever to dry even a small load.

We've been using the Splendide combo machine in our current coach for over 10 years without a single problem. Sometimes we do a load each evening but occasionally we can skip an evening or two, so all-in-all the combo has worked very well for the two of us.
Also, we keep hearing about odor problems with the front loaders but since our combo is also the dryer the machine gets a good drying out after each washing and have never had any odor problems.
With the combo we have some storage room, the water hose valves are easy to reach to turn off when not in use, the water hoses are reachable for changing after a certain age (salesman said the machine would have to be removed from the cabinet to do this), and the electric cord is easy to unplug when the machine is not in use also.
I know we will love the operation of the stackable machine if we can just get past all the possible headaches it can cause us.

Personally.....I think you would be making a HUGE mistake changing out the stacked unit for the combo. There's a reason they don't offer the combo anymore. Nobody wants them when there's room for a stackable, they take to long to do a load, they're not as efficient and they have too small of a drum. It sounds like yours has worked fine, but we never installed one in our other coach (only had room for a combo) because it just wasn't worth it. Our new coach had to have the stackable unit.

I also agree that not every Whirlpool is bad. Unless you're going to full time, it won't get enough use to where one out, like a home unit.

Resale wise, If I saw a coach with room for a stacked units and it only had a combo, it would have to be changed out as part of the deal.

Just to demonstrate how people's opinions can differ, we have the combo unit and wouldn't trade it for anything. Vive la difference!

I agree the Whirlpool line isn,t the most sophistocated around, but don,t fall for the glamourous-sounding all-in-ones. At best, I found our old one to be a "playtime" unit, nothing for a serious RVer. C'mon.....who wants to be washing and drying EVERY day? Life is too short for that! Get a decent-sized pair of units and spend your time enjoying life!

We have Maytags in our 2007 coach, which we rank much better than the current Whirlpool models Newmar is using. If you order it sans washer, you simply need to find some 24 in. Apartment size washer/dryer units and install yourself. It ain't a big deal.

All I'm going to say is with the all-in-one you push start and clothes come out clean and dry. Takes a long time but you don't have to switch clothes midway to the dryer...

Just out of curiosity.....for those that really like the Splendide combo, do you have one in your home?

Now that's a good idea there Don, and we'd definitely trade this current miserable 3-yr old Whirlpool set we have at home right now for one but when we have a choice we'd rather have a top loader instead of a front loader. But so far it looks like in a coach the front loaders are our only choice.
Guess we'll just have to wait and keep our fingers crossed that the Whirlpool in our ordered DS will last longer than this one at home.

Good point Don.

But on the other side of the road, we've often thought of having a washer/dryer. In our coach there's room for a combo, or nothing.

Right now, it's nothing.

When we spec'd out our first coach for fulltiming, the DW was thinking maybe we should use the space for storage and she'd do her washing at the CG laundromat. I told her we're gettin' the 2pc. Set....I don't want her having to run down and sit at the laundromat with Rosa and Marie when we could be out seeing the sights. So we did and have never looked back at our decision.
