I have disconnected the incoming cold water line from the faucet. I plugged the line and am going to let it sit pressurized overnight. I will sample the water in the morning. If there is no sulfur odor it should be the faucet. If there is an odor in the water I guess I will sanitize a third time and hope for the best.

I think the park we are staying in has softened water, and when we are away for a few days, the water in the hose or filter gets stinky when the softened water breaks down and releases hydrogen sulfide. We get the stinky water from all faucets, but replacing the carbon filter does seem to help.

One thing that's different is that the kitchen sink has an aerator in the line below the sink. Maybe that is making the stink worse in the kitchen vs bath.

Problem Solved. As I mentioned in my previous post I disconnected the cold water supply line from the kitchen faucet. After sitting pressurized overnight I ran about a pint into a container. There was NO odor. I am replacing the faucet today.

Even after running the kitchen faucet for several minutes, the sour odor remained. The water at the "park" faucet had no odor so I had to do some investigating.

What I found was the "whole house" water filter (Filter Flow Pur brand) and especially the activated charcoal "filter cartridge" had a very strong sour/sulfur smell. As soon as I removed the charcoal element the water at the kitchen faucet became odorless. This is the first RV I've owned that has a "whole house" filter --> https://www.amazon.com/Watts-POE12GH...ateway&sr=8-77

What I learned is the filter remains full of water while the motorhome is in storage (even though low point drains are open) as the filter housing has no low point drain and I didn't think about opening the filter housing to dump remaining water. As such, the water in the filter housing can become stagnant and develop a strong odor which remains with the filter element.

After the Labor Day outing, I dumped remaining water from the filter housing before putting the motorhome in storage. I'll use the motorhome again in early October and will check the activated charcoal filter element to see if it has a foul odor. If a foul odor is present, I'll trash the filter cartridge and return to using the "hose" filter which I've used for many years without problems --> https://www.amazon.com/Camco-TastePU...dDbGljaz10cnVl

If your London Aire has a similar whole house water filter as my Ventana, you may have the encountered the same stagnant water / smelly filter cartridge problem I had.

I'd like to know from the forum how that care for their whole house filters while their motorhome is in storage for several weeks.

We do not have a Newmar, but we do have a whole house filter. We have never had the problem you describe. I do not ever dump the filter housing except once a year when changing the cartridge. Maybe just before putting it away you connected to some bad well water?

My coach has a Delta ToucH2O faucet. Is that the same as yours? Since we seem to have the identical problem, it would be odd if it is happening with different faucets, if the faucet is really the problem.

Not sure how a faucet could cause this especially after running bleach thru it. But can’t argue with the steps you have taken to isolate the problem. Another thought would be to change the faucet cartridge (if your model has one) rather than the whole faucet.

I do not have a Delta Touch. You might want to check the UV filter system under the sink. Mine LADP does not have one.

I would rather change the faucet. Then I know there no chance of residual contaminants lurking around.

The smell doesn’t happen with the UV water, only the main faucet. It’s all very strange. But I hope changing the faucet works for you. Good luck!

Doug I am waiting on your results of changing your faucet. I can't think why it might be it but it could be. I have the problem in my rea bath hot water faucet. The cold is fine. If I let it run it clears up. Waiting on your response.

Sulphur Smell

Hmmm. Our Bay Star is more or less in continuous use (not stored) and we sometimes have the 'rotten eggs' aroma although not from any of the faucets. The smell seems to linger for an hour or so around the pantry on the side wall next to the 'fridge. We turn on both ceiling extraction fans and it goes away. A week or so later and for no apparent reason it returns. Does not seem to make a difference if the a/c is on or off, and, the water smells and tastes fine.

Any suggestions?

Our house master bathroom sink would stink like that. Used bleach down the sink including down the overflow hole and it worked. in my case bacteria at work.... Let the bleach sit for several hours. Bleach is cheap and might work for you. If you try bleach, let us know if it worked?

While replacing the kitchen faucet solved my problem, I suggest you disconnect the offending supply line plug it and leave it pressurized overnight. Sample the water the next day and if there is no odor replace the faucet. I am assuming you have chlorinated and sanitized the fresh water tank and supply lines and doing so did not eliminate the odor.
