Surge guard

We use a Progressive Industries 50 amp surge guard for our Ventana. Been in the Carolinas lately now in Fl. Lots of rain!! Anyone using this same surge guard had problems with water getting in? Thinking about covering the guard with a plastic trash bag. The company says the guard is weather proof. Thoughts??

Surge guard

If it's the portable , it is waterproof. They give a lifetime warranty . I'd go with that or do what I did.

This is the EMS , but you can do the same with their smart surge protector.

Never had a problem with ours and we were in Oklahoma in May when they had all that rain and flooding. I think you will be ok.

My 30 amp got water in it during a storm. It was partially my fault as I was plugged in at our house and it was laying flat on the ground, although plugged in tight. It rained over night and I had forgotten about it. In the morning it had moisture inside and was showing an error code.

I called PI and they told me to send it in with my purchase receipt and they would take care of it. It was returned like new, but I did have the expense of shipping. It took about ten days. I will be more careful in the future.

X2. My portable EMS, while on the pedestal, got water in it and failed. Progressive took care of it no problem. They told me they were having an issue with water intrusion on these units. Mine is now inside the bay.

It can be mounted inside a compartment. I put a portable autoformer and a portable EMS both inside my battery compartment. I run a 50' cord(haven't been to a campground that more is needed) from shore box to the EMS to the Autoformer and then to the MH breaker box.

No worry's about rain getting on either one.
