Tampa show changed my perspective.
I have always been a Class A guy but after looking at the new 2026 Grand
Star Super C I may be joining the Super C club. What a beautiful unit and a great value for the money. Finally a Newmar C with a bunk above the cab for the kids!

Yes--- the Newmar Super C's are nice..... my reservation about having one are the restrictions at several of the places we go to that are Class A only.

Interesting….as the class C units never attracted me. The only advantage I saw was towing capacity and ease of engine work…

Me neither. I like the openness of the Class A cockpit. It seems less isolated from the rest of the bus, and my dogs like to sleep right up front when I'm driving. The only thing that would be better is maybe a side entrance like the Prevost's & Newall's have, so my wife can sit directly across from me.

I have been looking and dreaming. I have not seen a mid-entry Prevost. Some Newall's have some really great mid entry floor plans.
As for Super "C"s many are still beam axle and leaf spring suspensions.
If I was to look for a Super C I would be hesitant to go with a typical production box thrown on top. I would look for something built like a Renegade.

I keeping hearing they track better down the highway especially in crosswinds. My short DP is a handful in crosswinds as was my shorter Class a gasser even more so before it. I am sure a 40+ foot DP with tag is better but many say a Super C especially ones built on Class 8's are hard to beat except maybe a Prevost.
They also seem to have better ground clearance generally if you like going off the beaten path at all. Some Super C's even have a rear locking diff to help get you out of trouble, which I have got into with my Class A.
Grand Star definitely looks interesting to me although wish they offered diesel heat option, I am tired of filling propane and my next coach will have hydronic. So for supers C's thats a Dynamax or Renegade or the higher end Newmars.

Its one thing a really like about my Palazzo its one of the only production DP's with a mid entrance this allow the door to be under the main awning and further back in campsite. Also allows for a nice work desk in the passenger area which is pretty important to me since I work remote when traveling.
Wish more Class A manufacturers would offer mid entry floor plans, my dream coach is a custom mid entry Newell.

Usually leafs up front with air ride in the rear. Seats are usually air ride up front to make up for leafs.

I had a 38' single rear axle DP that was ok, but did get moved around by the semi's when passed or passing. I can say that my 45' Tag Axle goes straight down the road, regardless of what is around us. And it take a really good gust of wind to even feel it.

Would be nice to know how it compares to say a 38 foot Super C. Like the idea of a 45 tag for sure, but also like the idea of a shorter lighter Super C that still drives nice but can get into tighter places of more boon docking which I enjoy and have pushed my Class A's pretty far doing in the past.
One thing I have heard to go along with the straight tracking on Super C's is the generally worse turning radius. Think its a combination of less wheel cut and usually very long wheel bases compared to Class A's since the steers are pushed way out front.
Wheel bases vary quite a bit though, Newmars other Super C's have the rear pushed way back while the Grand star looks more a like a Renegade wheel base while Dynamax spec pretty short wheel bases with lots of rear overhang, still much longer than a short DP like mine.

The tracking difference is perception. With a Deisel pusher you are sitting cab forward, in front of the steering axle. Foe the Super C you are behind it more like a car. Vehicle front moves the same, but you move much further 2 feet in front to the axle compares to 2 feet behind it. Sometimes this actually feels worse with a short overhang tag as the rear stays planted and coach pivots.

I don't believe its just perception, having the steers much further forward with only a hood over them means side loading aerodynamics such a cross winds have much less leverage to move the vehicle, the forces are therefore much lower and less effort is needed to keep it in the lane, this is just physics.
When the bow wave of a semi passing or coming out into an open field on the interstate vs woods with a cross wind I can feel the front end being pushed out of the lane and I must compensate by turning the wheel into it, nothing like any car I have driven.
Longer wheel bases with more weight on the front axle help a Class A, but you still have a large sail out in front of the steers while a Super C has the main engine weight up front and almost nothing in front of the steers and a low hood above them.

Some campers also have a long overhang behind the rear axle. As the bow wave hits that rear section, as it is being pushed can also push the front towards the passing truck.

I mentioned different super C have different overhangs, but generally wheel base to length ratio is much better on Super C's.
Dynamax has a lot of over hang and shorter wheelbase for super C, its still has a 268" wheel base in a 39 foot coach while a 40' Ventana is only 245".
Renegade Verona 40' has a 309" wheelbase while a 45' King Aire is 292"
Newmar Super star has a 345" wheelbase in a 40' coach and very little overhang! That thing must track like an arrow down the highway and be a bear to maneuver in tight spaces.
I like the Renegade wheelbases and the this new Grand Star looks similar based on images.
Spreading the wheels out and putting them way up front helps a lot with straight line tracking and crosswinds even with significant rear overhang by all accounts, DP's usually have a good amount of overhang without tags since the engine is behind the wheels and its a big weight swinging around back there.
