Televator Cover is Loose

2018 DS4018, I have recurring trouble w/ the televator

the other day it wouldn't raise; I investigated and the countertop "cover" was moving all around loosely and would "block" the raise. If I moved that cover around a bit manually I could get the TV to continue its rise.

Hard to view what's going on back and underneath there so I took a video w/ . my cellphone and captured a still shot. Looks like the wooden platform has come loose from a metal mounting bracket. I can't figure out if it was glued or what.

(I'm attaching the pic since I can't figure out how to insert it into here)

I will have the coach into Guaranty for some other work and want them to take a look at get it stable-mounted again, but meanwhile wonder if others have had this problem or can provide inside as to how it's mounted in the first place. Is the metal bracket indeed glued to the wooden frame?

Any other experience or thoughts?

THANKS

Ok I"m trying for the first time to "insert" the photo instead of attaching. Let's see if it works.

the view would be looking from underneath the televator cover and from behind the TV, while pointed a little upward and toward the outside.

Looks like there's a metal piece or bracket that is vertical, but flattens out at the top to horizontal, on which the "cover" rests. it looks like that metal bracket was previously fixed somehow to a piece of wood frame in back, which would stabilize the entire structure .. back, top cover, and bracket. It looks like it has pulled loose or splintered, and that's why the top cover and back are wiggling all around and preventing the televator from rising when I press the button

Hope this isn't totally confusing. It kind of baffles me how you would glue the thin edge of a metal bracket to the wooden frame like that.

It's hard to tell what your picture is showing. The televator cover is just free floating. If the TV is tilting or moving, it could be causing the televator cover to wedge into a side or corner. The televator cover lifts off. I used foam around the edge of mine to keep it quiet during travel. You could also use foam or another material to center the cover on the TV more squarely. Remove the cover and see if eh TV wobbles as it rises.

Don't forget the televator switch is a momentary switch. If yo hold it down, it won't work appropriately. It's designed to be briefly pushed and released.

(yes I know about the switch but thanks)

I don't understand what you mean the cover is free-floating. On mine, it's attached to a structure, or frame if you will. If it was free floating it would fall off when the TV came up? Maybe I don't know what you mean by free-floating. You can see in that photo it looks like it would rest on the top flange or horizontal part of the metal, and it looks like the metal was previously fixed to the frame in back...there's like a splintering effect on the wood.

When you say the cover lifts off ... not on mine. It's attached to something. Plus .. it used to feel more stable, and only now is it easy to wiggle and shift around.

maybe I'm missing something.

Sorry about the picture ... sometimes it's hard to use words to describe a strange view in a photo)

Yours may be different than mine. My televator cover is just a plate/cover that lays on top of the TV and comes up with the TV. Mine can be lifted off.

Is yours hinged and flips open when you lift the TV?

No hinges or flipping. Rises straight up and stays on top. But it is definitely attached to something.

When you say the cover would move around and block the raise, what exactly is it hitting that would stop the raise?

Mine is like Don's, it moves around, back and fourth, even side to side but it has never hit against anything to stop it from rising.

I push the button, it raises an inch or half inch then stops. I go over there, move the top around a little ( and it's way looser than normal) then press the button again and it continues its elevation. This is a new problem. It feels "obstructed" underneath although i can't see an actual blockage

So when you say it moves around and back and forth...can you lift it off like Don can? I can't

Mark, it's very heavy, are you sure it doesn't lift off?

This is what it should look like, the springs on each side center the top side to side, at the same time the springs pull the top back against the aluminum bracket.

To lift the cover off I remove this screw on both sides then lift the cover straight up
