Televator not responding

2019 Ventana 4369

I've searched the forums and not found an answer. Many posts about how to calibrate the televator motion up/down.

My issue, the televator has always bound on the way down, about 1/2 way. I have grabbed the side of the TV and unbound it (loud pop). Then I press the lower button again and it continues down as normal. The TV could also be raised back to the full up position if I tried that.

Recently, this happened and I could not get the TV to go UP or DOWN after freeing the TV from it's bound position.

I decided to finally pull the sofa out and find the problem. I corrected (I think) the binding issue, but the TV will still would not raise or lower. After alot of fussing with it, it did finally lower but then would never move again.

Contacted Newmar and KIB for support, was sent a new controller, replaced the controller. Still nothing.

I can get the controller to go into calibration mode, but no response from the televator motor.

I'm thinking my motor has failed, but baffled that it actually did go down the last time.

Thoughts? I looked on Newgle and got the lift part number. Over $800!

Can you test to see if you are getting 12 volts to the motor? That should tell you if it's the motor or an upstream issue.

I've checked continuity through each conductor of the cable, but the motor itself is internal to the mechanism and will require complete disassembly to get to.

I’m no expert, but this happened to me. I don’t recall where I got this info, but I was told to check and trip your GFI outlets in the kitchen and bathrooms. I checked and tripped/reset the GFIs and the Televator worked again. I was surprised it worked! Good luck.

Just to close the loop on this.

I ended up replacing the motor drive unit. I called the manufacturer and they sent me a new one for around $125, much cheaper then what Newmar wanted to charge me!

I need to fix this issue. How did you get to the motor? It is behind our table/booth and I don’t see an easy way. Also, which company did you contact?

Behind the sofa (on my Ventan 4369). Once sofa is removed there is an access panel you will have to remove. Controller is on the left (towards front of coach).
