Baystar pro/con!

I purchased a 2013 Baystar model 2901; have been very happy with the performance so far. We only travel 3 - 4 thousand miles a summer but enjoy the comforts in the RV! I had a Navion with diesel engine previously, this coach does ride a bit harder than the Navion but makes up for it in other comforts. Had some minor adjustments in the beginning but overall very happy. Newmar is easy to contact and very responsive too. All issues have been addressed pretty quick. Enjoy. Mods Koni shocks and Tru-center steering stabilizer; both helpful! Daryl.

Have you had your coach weight and adjusted your tire pressures to the tire MFG tire tables, may give you a softer ride.

I had a brand new 43' Newmar Ventana that we traveled across the U.S. a couple of times in and then lived in it for two years while wintering in Florida. The coach was great for what we were using it for. Earlier this year we bought a 29' used 2010 Ventana Baystar that we do some limited camping in during the summer months in Indiana but mainly use it traveling back and forth between Indiana and Florida where we have houses. For living many weeks or months in the 43' Ventana was great. For traveling and camping in state and federal parks and just the overall maneuverability you can't beat the 29' Baystar. One thing you will want to check is to see if any additional equipment has been added to improve the handling of the Baystar. My 2012 43' tag axle Ventana handled great brand new off the lot but my Baystar has had several modifications made by the previous owners to improve the handling from when it was new. These mods can be quite expensive.

We have a 2014 Bay Star 3103. We moved up from a Pop-Up camper. The difference is night and day. We don't plan on full timing once we retire. I am planning a cross country trip for a retirement present, but most of our trips are long weekends and a couple weeks during the year. We stayed with a gas coach for a couple reasons. The first being price, and the second being the amount of travel didn't justify the additional maintenance costs of the diesel (JMHO). I think you will like the additional room that the Bay Star will give you, and it's a very good coach. It isn't a Dutch Star or London Aire, but it is comfortable. As for the handling, the only way you will find out is to drive it. What some consider white knuckle OMG, may just be "It doesn't handle like my Honda' to you. There is also a fix for the F53 chassis that is free. It's called the Cheap Handling Fix (CHF) and it is simple moving a strut from the front hole to the back hole on the Sway Bar. This is done on Both sides and front and back. Some have reported a major improvement with that change alone. How far you want to chase that well handling idea is up to you. Some on here have spent Thousands of dollars trying to get their gas coach to handle like a DP.

Overall the Bay Star is a very good coach, from a very good manufacturer for this price point. I don't think you will be disappointed.

Good Luck!

We have a 2013 3302 and we love it. We added a rear track bar and the CHF and it handles well. Can be harsh on Michigan roads but overall good. We tow a CRV and it has not issues. My biggest complaint is the storage door swing up and you have to be able to get below them on some compartments. They are aluminum and can be very sharp.

Just drove 1350 miles the last three days to get out of the Wisconsin winter in our 2017 Baystar 3401. We love our unit! Can't tell you how many times my wife commented how much more enjoyable it is to travel in vs. our older Winnebago Class C that we traded. I spent about $750 on an alignment, Safe-T-Steer and CHF and it handles quite well at this point. We had lot of cross winds and trucks the last few days and much easier driving than stock.
Note, all the handling comments apply pretty much to virtually all Class A gas coaches as they're all on essentially the same Ford F53 chassis. The heavier GVW chassis with longer wheelbases of course will ride better and handle better.
Anyway, we've now put roughly 7000 miles on ours since April and really enjoy it and the comforts it has. I do feel that Newmar quality and support are significantly better than much of the RV industry.
