Thoughts on 1 slide up front?

One of those HMMMM, didn't think of that moments. We have been primarily looking at 40' models with 2 slides up front and 1 in the back. Some 4 slide models with only 1 axle just seem to be too heavy thus have some CCC numbers that might not work.

We also have some thoughts about a 43' tag model. In that case 4 slides seem the obvious configuration for the most room. So, while looking at a few 43' models I was surprised by the number that had only 1 side up front and 2 in the back. I also found a few 40' models the same way. HMMMM, why would anyone want that?

Then, I started to think of some reasons for this. Keep in mind that my Winnebago has the basement compartments that are on the slides and come out with them...for the most part no bending under the slide outs though I don't have any pass through storage either.

I guess that without a curb side, front slide-out, the bulk of the basement storage easily accessed, especially with slide out trays.
Am I on to something? Any thoughts on having only one front slide for ease of basement access?

I guess you have to look at priorities. What do you do more, use the space inside, or go out and access the storage in the basement? I think we all know that floor plan trumps ease of storage access hands down. If I could only have one slide, I would prefer it on the street side. when parked with awning out, picnic table, you are bound to go in and out of the storage, so the street side slide makes more sense.

If I could have a 4 slide unit, I sure would love it. Who wouldn't like more space?

I have had two coach's with one slide and the present with two, both on street side.
I have found its easier when setting up to do all the hook-ups, remove chairs,tables after leveling and before opening the slides.
Would probably do the same if I had four slides.
With two slides on street side the passenger side larger compartments can be arranged with convenience for items you may need also, as cook stove and fun items.
The interior of coach we have has a full wardrobe clothing closets in bedroom, which newer coach's now do not have, with full bath in rear and the living slide extended makes for a cozier atmosphere with half bath at mid coach.



Granted its not a dance floor as with four slides but plenty of room for us old couple.

Have had No slides, 2 slides and now 4 slides. I would never consider anything but 4 slides. Really like the room.

Truly happy with 3 slides...1 up front 2 in back. Front is on the street side. Plenty of room for us two.

Hi Sky_Boss,
There are two additional reasons for only one street side slide up front.
1. Provides a bit more room under the main awning in the entertainment area.
2. If one spouse is visually impaired, having no slide on the curb side front eliminates that spouse from bumping into the slide.
