Tire size change

We are at the Spartan factory for new tires. They have not been able to obtain the 305/70R22.5LRL tires that came on our 2009 Dutch Star, and are recommending we replace with 315/80R22.5LRL tires. Does any know whether this is a good idea?

On the surface I dont think so. The new tires will be taller than the old ones so your speedometer will not be accurate if it was before. I multiplied the width times the height to get how tall the tire was. 315 X .80 = 252. The old tires were 305 X .7 = 214.

If you do it please let us know how turns out. Some Newmar owners have switched from 295 to 315 but I have heard anybody doing the change for 305. They are 70 and the 295 and 315 are 80.

Here is a link to a tire size comparison that provides both visual and size comparisons that may help.
