I bought a standard seat and relocated the holes for the hinge. Then fill the old holes with almond RTV. Not prefect but you get what you like without spending big bucks for a toilet seat.

Good going!

16 months ago when I bought my rig I might've been motivated to do something like that, but now I'm used to what I have..

Best wishes!

Oh well. I’ll just order two new ones. Oh, and for anyone wanting to know, do NOT use bleach or bleach-based products to clean the seats. You’ll strip the paint [emoji51]

Indeed.

Dometic 385311005 is $62.50 with free shipping over $100 at Ardemco.

Check your part number - this would be right for me.

Same part I ordered. I paid the same from https://marinepartssource.com free 2 day shipping. Most everyone drop ships from several warehouses.

Replacing toilet seat on Dometic 8700 series

The hinges have failed on our Dometic 8700 series toilet seat. Got a new one but it appears that I will have to pull the toilet to get at the nuts to hold down the seat?
It's 10 years old so I guess it would be prudent to change the seal then?

Thanks - Rookie here. Be gentle.

If the seat is wide enough at the hinge area you may be able to move the hinges apart and re screw them to the proper width. I've done this with a wood seat.

I just tried to switch mine out also and have the same problem. Wrong spacing. I would like a cushioned seat and no slammer. But haven’t been able to find that.

Unless some clever person decides to custom-manufacture seats for us, we're stuck with the Dometic.

Unrelated note: I needed a replacement part for my toilet and Dometic is on a 4-6 week backorder due to the virus. If your part is not in a distributor warehouse you are s%&t out of luck.

Been searching for slow close toilet seat hinges. Found these on Amazon but are not available until end of March/April. Could screw into wood top and bottom and fill the holes from original hinges if they don't cover them. Unless someone has tried these before I'll give them a shot once available and see how they work.

I had to replace my toilette in Oct. 2020. The Dometic (310 series) I was able to get had a soft close seat.

Perhaps that person has never tried to do #1 while someone else is driving. There's nothing quite like barely catching the slamming lid before a big mess occurs. Or not...

I'd like to get a soft close lid for the Tecma but I refuse to pay over a hundred dollars to get one.
