Touch pad door lock 05 MADP 4304???
I have an 05 MADP 4304 and the door lock touch pad don't work. It has corroded over the years and simply doesn't work. My question is, is there a better one out the in the aftermarket land than Newmar's, or is the Newmar touch pad the way to go back?
If there is aftermarket, can someone post up which one I should look to?
thanks,

Newmar uses the Essex keypad. Old ones with the plastic soft ouch went bad. The new ones with the hard buttons seem to last longer. Replaced mine two years ago and still going good. Bought it direct from Essex in Cal.for about $175. I believe it is model KE1700.Have to open up hole a bit bigger. You can pull off the plastic cover and unscrew the old one from the outside and splice the wires while it's hanging out. Don't have to pull inside panel.

Are the wire colors of the essex keyless pad the same color as those in the coach for an easy splice and convert?

Thanks for bringing up the subject. I'm in the same boat with my 05 Dutch Star.
Sent an email inquiry to Essex but haven't received a response.
Guess I'll give them a call on Monday.

Wires are all the same. Look at the date tag on the back of your original keypad. There is a two year warranty on it. If you already have the key FOB you can use it on the new one.

I replaced mine with the Essex last year, but no power to the keypad. I found a fuse for it in the left front compartment and there was power at that point. I called Newmar and they were not all that much help. I have not had time to pursue the problem since. I did have to enlarge the hole for the new keypad, but no problem there. The wire colors are a one for one match. It looks nice however.

I ordered the KE-1701 as it appears the 1700 is discontinued. I emailed essex a few days ago but never heard anythign from them. Glad to hear the wire colors are the same. I don't know if mine works or not, it didn't when I bought the coach. There is no salvage for the old touchpad, pretty bad shape. Fingers crossed the new one will work.

How much did they want for it from Essex?
I found it online for $179, but don't know if Essex would be cheaper.
If it's no cheaper, I'll just order it rather than trying to call Essex.
