I live in north San Diego county, try Mel’s welding in vista. They have Roadmaster products and have done 4 vehicles for me. Not sure if they do Airforce One but they did Roadmaster Brake master for me. They do good work and are reasonable price wise. $6000 is high.

Or are there other trusted resources? The dealer has quoted a price of $6k for baseplate, brakes and all associated wiring - is that silly overpricing? And finally is there an opinion on the best tow equipment out there. My limited research suggests Blue Ox?

We have a ‘15 Ventana towing a ‘14 Jeep Wrangler...and happen to live in San Diego County. When forced with the same scenario, I purchased our Blue OX tow bar, Base Plate, karguard, and Air Force 1 auxiliary braking system from Etrailer. I then had Mel’s Welding in Vista, CA install everything. I think that I paid something like $1k for the install and $2.5k for the parts.

If you live in the south county, San Diego Trailer Supply had a one stop shop also.

Congratulations on your Ventana.

One more option : 2018 Rubicon
I bought all my gear at e trailer. Roadmaster base plate, air force one braking system. Called the local Jeep dealer. They quoted me $1005.00 to install everything and they bought the wiring system. They even made a custom bracket for the AF one. That made my total right at 3K, not including the tow bar.
