TPMS now standard on some Newmar Rigs
Valor is the company supplying the standard option tire pressure monitoring systems on all 2020 Dutch Stars and up. Essex's and King Aires have been equipped with them for some years now.
The good news is that toad tires may be added because the antenna system installed on the chassis is strong enough to pick up the towed vehicle tire monitors. I ordered them for our toad from Don Rigby (contact info below). The monitors are mounted internally with stainless steel bands and each monitor has a small antenna. The monitors are fairly small and light in weight. Don reports battery life to be 5yrs (company website reports 5-7yrs) and the sensors are activated when air pressure is applied to them. Thus in my case, I won’t lose battery life until they’re added to my toad late this summer (prior to picking up our DS).
Don reports that it is a simple process to program the towed tire monitors to the transceiver on the coach. A programming tool is needed and Don has offered to help me with this process.
Freightliner is going to add the readout to the digital glass dash (info shows in middle of screen) and Don is not positive yet but the Spartan chassis is going to utilize the round Valor gauge.
Entegra has also been utilizing the Valor system for a number of years and suggest doing a Valor search on iRV2 to gain additional info on the system.
Don Rigby, New Hudson Distribution is the exclusive distributor for the Valor RV systems. He’s a pretty good guy and he may be contacted at: (734) 634-3278

Any idea if this could be retrofit to 2019 dutchstar? I doubt I would spend the money since I have TST but would be interested in the availability

I used to like the idea of internally mounted sensors, but having to dismount the tire from the rim to replace a bad battery convinced me otherwise. I'll stick with the external Ensor that I can change a battery in...or, even replace the whole sensor, if necessary...without dismounting the tire.
YMMV

IDK but would guess you could and likely would cost quite a bit. Lots of tires to dismount, etc... Suggest contacting Don. I also just texted him if batteries can be replaced when they expire or when new tires are needed.

Sounds much like the SmartTire system that was an option on my '09 CC. I added the internal sensors to my towed last year. Stainless steel steel bands attach the sensors to the wheels. I do have a problem with losing the signal from a couple of the towed sensors though.
On my '02 DSDP I used the TST external sensors and the system worked well

Might be right. SmartTire is owned by Bendix. The Valor system has been on Essex's and King Aires since 2015.

I agree with Jim. I would not want a built in system for the simple reason of costly maintenance.
With my TST external system I can replace the batteries myself, add or replace sensors myself, and continue to have trouble free service.

Don Rigby reported that the batteries can't be replaced on the sensors. New sensors will be needed when tires are replaced.

All new cars have them internally mounted and have just become part of any new vehicle. Kind of a new thing for an RV (internal monitor), but in a few years, it will just be another component we'll expect to be part of the dash information.

But the current automotive tpms are part of the valve stem not requiring a hose clamp band. I just got the 4 valor sensors to add to my Jeep and this looks like very old technology compared to the EEZtire and other proven external systems that work very well. Then you need to borrow the tool to program the sensors. Definitely not the best solution in my opinion.
I almost lost a tire due to a leaking valve stem that I caught with the eeztire system. I would not be without tpms. The 4 extra sensors cost over $300.
I also purchased a new EEZtire system with 12 sensors for $600. Simple quick and easy. Not going to take a chance. Hopefully Newmar will catch up to the newer technology.

Hmmm. Grat info here.
Getting ready to order a new Dutch Star and was curious on the internal TPMS. I have been using Tire Minder for our Kountry Star and toad. Guess I will keep the Tire Minder for the toad in the future and not let it go with the new owners of the Kountry Star.

Don Rigby is easy to deal with and an all around great guy..the system that came in my 2019 king aire was easily expanded to include the toad tire readings…Spartan supplied an update to my dash if memory serves…nice and tidy in the existing dash…..rather than having to borrow the tool that you use to adjust baseline pressure, and since I travel in extremely hot conditions as well as very cold conditions,it made sense for me to just buy one of the tools from don…often he has used ones for around $200.00…….it’s a very nice system all in all,and if I keep this coach long enough to need new tires,I will replace the sensors with the tires……5 stars for dons customer care!! Best wishes joe bauer 19 king
