Transmission fluid change
2004 Kountry Star Cat 330 diesel, 90kmiles
I’m not seeing in the documentation that came with the RV that the transmission fluid has ever been changed. How often should it be changed and how much can I expect to pay to get the job done? Thank you

If you search on the forum for this topic, you will find lots of threads and lots of opinions. Some of the opinions are from people that worked or currently work in the industry that know what they are talking about. Others, like me, who don't really know, would tell you to just change it out. If you decide not to change it out, perhaps you can get a sample sent off to check the condition of the fluid. This is one company that does it. There may be others. I used them for my coolant sample. Luckily, I did because they found an issue for me that I was able to address.

No question, if the transmission fluid is 10 years old, it needs to be changed.
Least expensive quality is a 5 gallon pail of Allison 668 fluid (will leave you about one quart left over) and an Allison filter pack (take your transmission model and serial number found on the driver's side of the transmission so you get the correct filter kit). The kit includes instructions, filters and gaskets you will need.
Nothing complex about doing it. Just need an inch-pound torque wrench.
Been there, done that many times.

If you don't
O your own oil / filter changes you should bevable to do the tranny.
If you have a shop do oil they should bevable to do tranny. Mine would rather I get the right filter & fluids to save them searching.

My thought is that fluids and filters are CHEAP insurance. If there is no evidence it has been done...do it!
