transmission mode light is lit and tranny not in nuetral

Since I started my motor home it is not in nuetral and the mode light is on. It is an Allison 6 speed and when i turn the ignition on and hit the nuetral button it does not change

That is the correct operation for the mode light if enabled. Depending what year and model your transmission is, the economy mode may or may not be the default. If the light is on depressing the mode button will toogle the econo mode on and off.

Hi Barlee,
Welcome to iRV2. If the mode light you are referring to is the economy mode light Lug_Nut is correct. Call Allison with the question and see what they say. As best I know the default is for the light to be off until the driver presses the button to turn it on. This could have changed.

All the economy mode does is change the shift point of the tranny.

Depressing the "N" button should do it if it is a button pad controller. Also if you shut the engine off and restart, the unit will default to neutral. If it does not , the "D" button may be jammed down. Tap it to try and free it.

Garry, that the way mine works but I understand some of the new Allisons are defaulted on.
