Bluefin, if I may offer my opinion; great job so far looks great. You should Dicor around the perimeter of the roof plate, you took the time seal the screw holes but what will keep water from seeping under the plate and accumulating around the screws? Again great job so far and thanks for sharing

Well, I was wondering about caulking around the perimeter. I did put a dab of caulk on the screw holes before I put the baseplate down so the there should be caulk around the screws and plenty oozed out when I screwed the down the baseplate. I was thinking that if I sealed around the baseplate, I would get condensation under the baseplate and would have the same moisture issue. So not sure what the best method on this one. Maybe someone could provide some technical knowledge on caulk/no caulk baseplate.

It looks like you ran just 2 of the 3 Travler coax cables into your RV, right?

I've installed four of them. I've never used the base plate, but I always Dicor the entire edge making sure it comes up and over the plate and then around the screws. You want it completely water tight.

Yes, I only used 2 coax cables. I only needed one as we will not use the bedroom for Dish, but it is there if we need it. I considered running extra wire for indicator for the location of the dish (up or down). But I figured I wouldn't trust the light and end up doing a visual check anyway.

If you think about it,every traveler dish that Newmar installes without the baseplate is completely sealed with Dicor, and I have not seen one case of condensation damage. This goes for around the WiFi ranger, feet for the tv razor, roof vents plumbing vents. Water under anything is a good thing. Not trying to argue just trying to help. Ultimately it’s your MH.

Well, then this is for others installing a Travler . . . if you can, always run all 3 coax cables from the Travler into your RV. You may not use them all immediately, but you may in the future (like for a Hopper 3).

This is true, you could run 3 coax cables into the RV. In my case with the Ventana 3407, the conduit only runs to one location, which is in the cabinet over the drivers seat. There is no easy way to run a coax from this cabinet to another location in RV. Maybe some other models have a different location of the conduit which would have better access to other locations in the RV. If others have better access of coax cables from their conduit location I would highly recommend it also.

UPDATE: Due to some conflicting ideas on caulking perimeter of the baseplate I called Winegard and asked them. Their recommendation was to not caulk the perimeter of the baseplate. FWIW....

That's what these are for

Hmmm, I need to see how Newmar did mine. When I installed the Trav'ler years ago on my previous Tiffin I put a bead under the baseplate and on top of the baseplate. From what I remember it was the way that was recommended.

I think what makes this install different is the use of the roof plate, before installing the sat, with it's own plate.
