Wow, that is a lot of time on the road, with all those memories from that time. You wouldn't have done it for all those years if you didn't enjoy it.
So sorry for you loss and I agree with the waiting part of the replies. If you are still physically able to enjoy being on the road, there should be no reason why you can't continue your legacy. Take some driving lessons (not sure even what type you have) and find a local chapter of an RV club to join and live the dream.

Very sorry for your loss. I echo advice of others to not rush into a decision. I’m newly solo too due the passing of my wife of 42 years this past August. I made one solo trip last Fall and have two lengthy ones planned for this year. It is lonely and I miss being able to share everything with Sharon. But it was our mutual dream to travel in our retirement and I know she wants me to continue. I understand it’s easier for me since I was the primary driver/operator and don’t have the same learning curve you would have.

Sassy, I am so sorry for your loss. You and Roy shared a lot of memories over the years and you will think of him every day. Lean on your support network and you will get through this and find a way to survive. My wife and I have been married for 46 years and we lost our only son 5 years ago. Our daughters and our grandkids have been our life savers. I hope you have someone you can lean on as well. For certain you have a lot of people on this forum who care for you. Take care and God bless.

Dear Annie I share my deepest condolences with the others and I can certainly relate to your feelings as I lost my DW of 61 years in 2016.

Though I'm still able to drive my coach, at this time, I just can't bring myself to take any trips without her, and don't believe that feeling will change in the near future. Perhaps some day I may work up the courage to take a trip alone.

May God Bless and grant you peace, and comfort you in your loss.

You have my deepest condolences. I has to be hard but as so many others have posted, don't make any hasty decisions. Unless financial circumstances require you selling, take a wait & see attitude for the short term. What seems daunting now may become doable in time. I've learned to drive our coach & after early apprehension & uncertainty, I find it enjoyable & it does give DH a needed break now & then.

Cherish & find comfort in your memories.

Sassy I am so sorry for your loss. Like others have said time heals and you may indeed find you way back on the road again.

Sincere Thanks

Thank you all for your condolences, well wishes and thoughts. A lot of you told me to lean on family for comfort. Well, neither of us had any family. It was just Roy and I, no one else. That’s the hard part. There is no one to lean on. Will I want to continue traveling....yes. Do I want to do it alone.....no. So for now I will stay grounded and see what future holds. I just don’t feel our world is safe enough for a woman to travel alone in.

You do have family, us. (IRV2) Some you have already met, and some you haven't yet. Grieving takes time, our condolences and thoughts are with you at this difficult time. You will get through this. Yes, Roy has given you great memories, and he wants more of those for you. It's not easy to close doors. A lot of wisdom and guidance, from this forum. You can lean on us, we listen also.

Sassy, I apologize for my earlier reply regarding leaning on friends and family for support. As the saying goes don’t judge someone until you have walked a mile in their shoes. As SPSM has stated you have an extended family out here and we are all thinking of nothing but the best for you. There are grief support groups in many communities and other organizations that provide help as well. But the bottom line is only you can decide what is best for you. Just know that we are all out here praying for your well being and that you will find a way to get through this. Take care and keep in touch with the forum regardless of whether or not you ever travel in your coach again.

I’m very sorry for your loss of your husband. I would give it time before I made a decision to sell il or use it. Yes you can do it with very little training

Condolences on your loss.

I agree with others who have advised you to take it a step at a time going forward.

We’ve had several ladies in our FMCA chapter go through this situation, and two out of the last three are still on the road. One of those sold her American Eagle and bought a Sprinter. Decided that was way too small and is now back in a Class A and has learned to drive it. Another has learned to drive her Phaeton.

I’ve been trying to get my DW to learn to drive our rigs for ten years now without success. Plan to keep in trying.

God bless you.

Lost my DW of 30 years in Aug 2016. Have kicked around downsizing too but decided to keep the rig, sell the stick house and travel.

My deepest condolences Sassy.

A close friend lost his wife of almost 60 years last year. They were avid RVers. He offered to sell his DP to me after she passed away but we weren't interested at the time.
Skip ahead a year and a half and his new gal friend loves the RV.
