Traverse Bay RV Resort- Acme MI.

Beware of this resorts cancellation policy & GREED! I have stayed at this upscale RV Resort on several occasions over the past 15 years & spent $$$$$ of dollars doing so. This year we were going to stay there for 6 nights on our summer trip through upper Michigan & Wisconsin. An emergency medical problem arose with my lady friend & we were forced to return home after only 8 days into the trip. I immediately called all 14 RV resorts we had booked to inform them of our problem & change in plans.

All 13 RV Resorts gave us a full or majority refund of our deposits except for Traverse Bay RV Resort who kept my entire $178 deposit.!! I am totally shocked & disgusted by their lack of caring & GREED! This time period is one of their busiest of the year with the Traverse City National Cherry Festival in full swing & they will have no problem renting my cancelled site.

I will never again stay at this money hungry RV Resort & caution all of you fellow RV'ers to think twice before booking with them! Stay instead at Wild Cherry RV Resort in Sutton's Bay MI. - it's much friendlier, cheaper & honest!!!!

Failure to cancel within 30 days prior to arrival will result in a minimum of 1 days rental for the site type reserved or the entire 25% deposit for the dates reserved, whichever is greater and will be applied to your pre-paid credit card deposit and refunds will not be given for any reason including but not limited to, personal matters, RV issues, weather etc.

Seems a little harsh. But who reads these things before hand?

We've stayed there a few times too. This time we're going to Petosky though. I'll guess I'll have to start looking closer before I reserve.

You'd think they would waive this due to the medical emergency. They must have been burned a lot to have such a restrictive policy and not be flexible. I'll definitely take them off my list.

We stayed there several times over the years. I have not been back in 3 yrs. Or so.
We have 2 friends that owned lots there, they both sold and got out of there.

We've stayed there and liked it. Maybe it is just me but I am noticing steeper cancellation policies at lots of places.

I've noticed that too. These places have a business to run & it's the people who burn them that results in more restrictive policies that impact all of us. Sure I'd like some compassion in an emergency; however, bottom line, it's up to me to be sure I've read & understood the park's cancellation policy. If I don't like it (or any other policy/rule a park has) I don't stay there.

I was just going over this at a new RV park and there policy is 50% up front and last minute policy is that the money goes into an account that you can use for future stays which seems fair. Sometimes they win the battle and lose the war.

Sorry you had a bad experience. We stayed there last September and were delayed one day in Nappanee due to a mechanical issue (stopped there on the way to Michigan for a factory tour and had a jack stick). We had no problem modifying our arrival date at no cost to us.
