TSD vs. Mudflap
Just curious if anyone has done a comparison of the TSD card versus the mudflap app. Would like to hear what you have found out? Thanks

Greetings Patrick,
There are a couple threads on this subject, but I will give you my $0.02.
It depends......Here where my home base is in the midwest, I have personally found Mudflap to be a better value. I think the closest TAs(which seems to have the best local discount) are at 3.29 and 3.28 or Petro at 3.24. With the Mudflap app I was able to find fuel for 3.17 just a short drive from my home.
I am sure other areas of the country these findings may be completely flipped.

Guess it would be best to have both depending on your location.

Last month, TSD made a huge deal with Loves. The deal was that they would give .28 cents off per gallon at all stations. In my opinion, Loves is the cleanest stations I've seen and they're opening new ones all over the country.

Loves and TA are the ones we tend to stay with... always go to the stations where you know they are turning their tanks of diesel on a regular basis... TSD has saved us ~$800 on fuel in less than a year... hopefully these >$3/gallon days will be short lived!!

That’s a game changer! I now have a reason to get the card. Thanks for posting!

That is a big deal. I never stopped there because of no discount but I will now.

I think it depends on how you want to fuel. If I recall correctly using Mudflap requires a few steps and going inside the station. If those steps are worth it to you for best price, it is likely a good deal.
I personally prefer the option just to "swipe" my card and fuel. The simplicity is key for me.
While I use my TSD card on every fill up on my HDT I have never used it with my pick up and only used it 1 time at an in-network station. I want to be able to pull up to commercial fueling lanes and fill both tanks (and DEF if needed) without going in and with minimal hassle.
Last month alone on a single fill up I saved $170 off of the listed price. Local in-network station had a full list price of $4.11 on their sign. With TSD card it was $3.71. I put in 170 gallons which would have been a savings of $68.
While $68 saved is nice, the local commercial lanes (very busy station due to price) had a price of $3.11, which is where I fueled. I saved an additional $102 on that single fuel up for a total savings of $170 off of the listed price.

Spring of 2020 I got discounts over 80¢/gallon at Love's, then it went to about 10¢. Good to see it higher--miss the really good discounts. The Love's app is fantastic as well...pull in, open the app, answer the prompts, get out and pump (it starts the pump for you). Very convenient.

We used mainly Loves for our last trip. The $.28 was a big savings, and like Don said much cleaner.

I should have noted, that I like the TSD card, but before the Loves discount, which use to be just .6 cents, I got better prices at non truck stops with my PenFed card that gives 5% off all fuel. It just so happened on our last trip in September, we were able to plan and use TA and Petro because they were ore prevalent in Oregon and Montana. If we couldn't find one that was convenient, we went back to the PenFed which saved us both in the discount and the fact that non truck stop stations were often .10-.15 cents cheaper.
So.....my point, we use what fits into our travel plans, which is typically fueling up just before we stop for the evening. I like to leave in the morning with a full tank.

That's the way I am with my Sam's club card, 5% savings on any fuel anywhere I purchase it. Have used it a few times because the discount was greater than my tsd card at truck stops.

TSD usually best for me. Sometimes the Fuelbook app is more competitive although it is a bit like gas buddy - only directing to a station. Then you have to swipe every $75 to 100.

We used Mudflap for our recent trip from Nashville to Denver to Tucson. Sometimes the station was a little way off the path. Some places were too small to get into. Most were truckstops. Always checked Gasbuddy. As mentioned sometimes a local small business was cheaper. (Right after I filled up).
Always check Gasbuddy!
