TV Cable Box (TiVo) and Cable Internet Installation on Newmar Canyon Star
Just finished installing our TiVo DVR and broadband cable internet modem/router on our 2017 Newmar Canyon Star. Challenges were finding cable and 120 volt connection points and keeping the cables hidden without drilling lots of holes. A call to Newmar customer support got me the (attached in images) TV coax schematic. TV and internet setup normally isn't a problem if you're using the park's WiFi and cable (except for possible performance issues). We spend the winters at Outdoor Resort Palm Springs and get broadband internet through our Motorola SB6141 cable modem (bought at Target) as well as HD TV through our HOA cable provider (Spectrum/Time Warner). Internet was the easiest to install since everything was nearby in a bin under the TV. I was concerned that a metal box might block the WiFi signal but it was strong everywhere in the coach. The TiVo's cable card required a fairly large outboard tuning adaptor that needed to be hidden from view. I was able to add a splitter where the cable attached to the TV, and then snaked the extra cables as well as the TiVo's power cord through the vent pipe cutout to a cabinet below with the help of a piece of stiff baling wire. Thank you Newmar for providing ample 120 volt sockets for all the electronics! See the attached photos. (PS- The antenna/cable relay control is a small button on the antenna amplifier. Internet will not work if the relay is in the amplifier "on" position... see the attached cable schematic why this is so.)
