Two, Or One Sewer Vent Stacks - That Is The Question

2005 KS. OK, this is nuts. Sure wish I had a plumbing diagram for this coach. Decided today that I would change the two sewer vent covers on the roof. I figured one was for the gray tank, one for the black tank. Off came the one and the new went on with no issues. Off came the second, excuse me, there was not even a hole underneath it. It was just a vent cover screwed to the roof. Did they forget to drill out the hole? Was there a sewer vent stack underneath it? Since I've never had any kind of smell in the coach I wasn't about to go drilling a hole in the roof to try and discover what was there. So for now I've just filled in the screw holes. Anyone ever run into this? Should there be a sewer vent stack under the second cap? Or could it be that the gray and black come together and go out the one sewer vent stack that is there?

Mystery Vent Pipe

If at all possible try to locate a like unit and ask a few questions of the owner, like do you have a false roof vent also? The builder may have installed an air admittance valve, better known as a studer valve in the sink drain plumbing.

The valve is usually located fairly close after the P trap on the kitchen sink drain line. They work well and eliminate the need for extra stack plumbing.

Or you may have gotten a "Bonus Build" extra parts factory installed screw up.

A few years back in a similar situation on a rubber roof ; a member had a plumbing vent in an odd location ; in a spot where there was no interior wall .

After close examination , it turned out the vent cover had been installed to hide a tear in the rubber roof ; I guess the thinking was that no perspective purchaser would notice an extra vent , but if the roofing was patched they might shy away from the purchase or demand roof material be replaced prior to purchase.

Have you called Newmar and inquired?
1-(800)-731-8300 or email customerservice@newmarcorp.com

I have 5 'vent caps' on the roof of my 5vr
1 Black, 1 Grey, 1 Galley and 2 Attic Vents
Attic vents have same caps as tank vents except they cover hole thru roof into attic space ---- similar to S&B Attic Vents

Diagram

I asked and received a plumbing diagram for my rig. Just get on their site and send them an e-mail. They sent me a copy and I had it enlarged. Did the same with my audio/visual system. Good stuff to have.
