Urgent question - Insurance Premium

Hi all, I take delivery of a new Mountain Aire 4018 next month at the factory..

Got an insurance quote today from Foremost (Farmers) of $3200/year for full-timing with nice high limits ($300/$500/$100). I am registered in California.

Am I in the ballpark?

According to my efforts, Foremost is one of the few companies comfortable with full-timing. I started with a National General agent who ended up at Foremost as well..

Now working directly with a local Farmer’s agent who I was referred to by a smart friend.

All advice appreciated!

That’s high.

I’m in So Cal. I called them all. Went with GEICO for $2200 with windshield I believe

Progressive was 1900

All others were higher with the same coverage.

I received a quote from Farmers for very close to the one you received. I went with Progressive for more than $1,300 less for the same coverage. Caused me to look at my other Farmers coverage. Somehow all of their lines - at least of those I've checked home, auto, umbrella, etc., are much cheaper elsewhere - some as much as 50% less. I am currently researching and will be leaving Farmers entirely, shortly...

Thanks for the quick replies guys

For the $2200 v $3200 range is the $2200 cover “full-timing” ?

You mentioned “home” so I think my answer is no — and maybe that’s the third thousand dollars?

I'm with The Hartford. They told me I could convert to full time coverage when I do it. I pay the full year for the MH and car.

I’m sorry - I should’ve included the other major factor:

For deductibles I have $1000 collision / $750 comprehensive

Try National General from Miller Insurance. They do a lot of full timer insurance. We were paying $2500 last year in Florida before we stopped full timing. Although, it is hard to compare insurance rates with different people because there are so many variables including driving record, accidents, location and credit rating.

Nice coach for full timing. Enjoy!

Nice motorhome. Personally I think you’re underinsured for this day and age unless you also have an umbrella policy.

A lot of people have Progressive, because when it comes to motorcycles (I'm told) and RVs, they tend to have much better coverage and premiums than your traditional ones.

I had a similar experience between State Farm and progressive, with State Farm being much higher than Progressive.

I strongly recommend getting a quote from progressive. I haven't had to file a claim, but most of the people that have posted on here seem very happy with progressive.

I have been on the other side of progressive. My toad was hit by an rv. The owner of the rv had progressive insurance.

I was in west glacier and the inspector was in Billings, MT. He had me send pictures and then arranged for a rental and repair all within 2 hours of incident. Overall I was impressed.

Since I buy my motorhome new, I keep replacement coverage with current year/same or better model options. Only available if you buy it when new and maintain. Otherwise it goes to stated value coverage. Since dutchstar increases MSRP every year, I prefer this route.

Ron Jarvie insurance is where I purchased. Even bought a 7 year 100k mile exclusionary warranty from him. It was a CoachNet with $250 deductible and cost $2900.00.

My insurance is high, about $2650, but that is with $1M limits required by balloon policy. This riders for awnings, windshield, and campground injuries.

I lot depends on whether you take the full replacement coverage (FR), which adds a lot of extra premium. Geico does not write full replacement so you can't compare their quote to one that includes FR without adjusting for FR. This could account for much if not all of the difference between the quotes mentioned above.

I agree - and carry a $2MM umbrella which costs me less than $400 per year

Not helpful to compare prices for different insureds and in different states and even counties. Best advice is to get multiple quotes and use an agent that handles multiple insurance companies.
