Vacuum Reservoir for Front Dash

Hello all,

Tried to run a search in the Newmar Owners Forum for this term “vacuum reservoir” and I must be doing something wrong with the search. Received over 1200 results. None relevant.

On my 2012 Dutch Star the front dash vacuum pump that directs the (A/C, Heat) vents is running “almost” continually. There has to be a tank that stores the pressure from the pump, I haven’t been able to find the tank. Any suggestions?

Typically, it will be under the hood, above the generator. Look for a round ball.

Time to smoke test your vacuum lines. It won't be a vacuum tank causing the pump to run continually. You'd have to be moving the dampers almost continually to be able to keep the pump running even without the tank. Smoke test at 1.5psi or less.

The pump will only be pulling 8-10 inches of vacuum anyway- the tank just exists to increase the duty cycle of the pump.

Usually best done by a shop with high end smoke machines, but you can go the cheap route on Amazon for around $160 for occasional use. Pro-grade machines run north of $1000.

ANCEL S3000 Smoke Machine Automotive, EVAP Smoke Machine Diagnostic Leak Tester, Dual-Mode Vacuum Fuel Pipe Leak Detector with Pressure Gauge&Adjustable Air Flowmeter for All Car/Motorcycle/Truck/Boat https://a.co/d/6xImPxL

Just attach to vacuum line and pump smoke through. Smoke comes out where you have a hole.
