Vent glass to operating mechanism adhesive failed
2021 Newmar Canyon Star 3927
Window vent glass (at kitchen counter) to mechanism adhesive failed
I am familiar with the HEHR 6400 SERIES WINDOW VENT RECALL #21E-047. However, that looks like a failure of the seal not the operating mechanism attachment to the glass. The two panes of glass on mine appear to be thoroughly sealed together.
On mine, the metal channel strip, which is part of the operating/locking mechanism, came loose from the glass. It looks like it has adhesive along the full length but only about 1 inch at either end was holding and is still on the glass.
Does the recall above cover it or another recall? (cite?)
If not, how are you fixing this?
Im inclined to try to clean it off and reglue it, clamping as needed for curing.
No idea What adhesive? Maybe some 3M type for glass attachment?

Per the recommendation from others I recently did the same repair with Loctite Power Grab Ultimate Crystal Clear Construction Adhesive.

This looks like the same thing that happened to us on our Thor Palazzo. We used 3M Double Sided Tape 0.5''x15.4Ft, Heavy Duty Clear Mounting Tape, #4905. So far, so good, and it has been from 1 to 2 years, depending on the window.

Before you start, double check the date stamp on the tube. The one I got at Walmart was 3 years old and it only has a shelf life of 1 year based on online reading.

Blue tape both sides of the frame piece to be glued. When done, you can just pull the tape and have clean glass. I do this with all silicone repairs where I want a nice clean edge.

I used Gorilla Glue and clamped them overnight. I had to fix 4 or 5 on my coach. They have held together for the last 6 years. I already have 94,000 miles on my coach.

I've had this with a couple of windows - my solution was actually two layers of double-sided 3M VHD. Two layers to get the proper width as there is a sort of "channel" on the metal piece that connects to the glass.
I used double-sided adhesive cause that's what the factory used.
Yes I had to cut the VHD width to size..
It's a bitch to remove the old double-sided tape used by the window factory!

My fix description
The sliding angle bracket/channel comes off of the slider arms (if that's what you call the mechanical parts) easily. This made it much easer to remove some of the old adhesive out of the shallow channel. I only removed about 4 inches of the old adhesive/tape from each end of the angle bracket since it was so difficult to remove. I used a small flat blade screwdriver to dig it out and scrape a bit.
On mine, there was a short piece of double sided tape (part of what let go) left on the inside of the window at each end of the angle bracket. I measured from the bottom edge of the glass to the bottom of those strips and noted the measurement for later blue tape (see step later). I think mine was 1 1/8" up from glass bottom edge. Then I scraped that old tape and adhesive off the glass.
From outside on a step ladder, I cleaned the glass with dawn dishwashing liquid in water, then rinsed thuroghly and dried with a clean towel.
All the rest was done from inside, leaning over the kitchen counter (the crank knob and screen had been removed earlier) :
I made marks on the glass for the edge lower blue tape strip. I measured the angle bracket length and width and made additional marks on the glass with a sharpie delineating edges of that shape. This was hard to do precisely because of the reach, angle of the glass, and my eyesight. Using those marks, I applied upper and lower borders of blue painters tape to the glass. Then, using the length of the angle bracket, I applied short strips either side, leaving a long rectangular tape opening where the angle bracket will adhere to the glass.
I moistened a paper towel with acetone and wiped the glass and the angle bracket where adhesive will touch.
I used Lock Tite clear construction adhesive. I put adhesive along the entire length of the angle bracket including on top of the old adhesive bead. Then I propped the glass out of the way and "threaded" the angle bracket onto the sliders at each end, taking care not to smear adhesive around where the sliders move in the angle bracket track.
None of the small clamps I had were deep enough so I just took advantage of the quick grab claim of the Lock Tite adhesive. I held the angle bracket at the correct level and left/right position while removing the glass prop and let it swing in and touch the angle bracket with wet adhesive surface. I held it still against the glass manually for a couple of minutes till it grabbed a bit. Then I did final movement to align with the upper tape edge and even as much as possible. I had to prop the angle bracket up a bit with a stick and left it alone for hours. I left the window cranked out about 1 inch during this time so the weight of the glass pushed lightly against the adhesive surface.
After curing overnight I cut the blue tape and adhesive adjacent to the angle bracket with a razor knife and stripped it off. The tape did help a lot for alignment and to prevent adhesive smears.
I also re-glued the little bezel to the screen around the crank mechanism hole in the screen and let it dry. Then reinstalled the screen from inside and the screw in the knob (which was loose).
I did not fully close the window tight and will not for a couple of days, to allow full cure before putting much force on the adhesive.
Note: all of the cleaning, marking, taping, and gluing would be easier if the glass pane had been removed to a bench. But I didnt exactly know how and didnt want to risk marring the paint by drilling a rivet, then re-riveting. (It looks like if I remove that rivet outside then the glass assembly might slide out sideways. But not sure)

Mine only had a couple of inches of double sided tape at each end of the angle bracket, most of which was still on the glass. The rest of the angle bracket had what looked like black silicone (although it was very hard, not pliable) the rest of the way across, and so tough that I only dug out about 4 inches. Unfortunately, none of that black stuff appeared to adhere to the glass as there was no black residue on the glass. The black stuff did dissolve/wipe off a bit on a paper towel a bit with an acetone application. It was stuck so well to the angle bracket I did not attempt to remove it all.
