Ventana backup alarm
Just wondering if any Ventana owners have disabled their backup alarms. I've checked the forums and can't find info specific to Ventana. I always use a spotter when reversing and I'm finding the alarm annoying. Thanks...Gary

I would suggest a water proof switch. The alarm is easy to get to, behind the engine cover.

Agreed...it is easily accessible and John's suggestion sound like a good one.
HOWEVER...think about it a bit more before you go there. While it is annoying it tells everyone around you that you are backing up. Every been and a CG where someone is trying to help your spotter? One other thing it can do is save your toad. Now don't ask me how I know about this but just in case you hit the R instead of the D and you hear that annoying sound it might make you stop to make sure what was going on.

Your insurance company may want to know if coach had one if backing accident happens.

By engine cover, do you mean the removable access in the bedroom? I've looked in the engine area at the rear and can't see anything obvious.

I have disabled the backup alarm on our Ventana at times. Specifically when we need to back up and are going to leave a campground really early in the morning. I then reconnect the alarm later in the day.
On our 2008 the alarm is mounted just inside the outside engine cover, behind the rear bumper. It is easily accessible, just open the engine cover and you will see it. There is a quick connection right near the alarm and it is easy to disconnect.

I looked in that area the other day but didn't see it. I'll take a closer look. Thanks....

After 10 years of listening to it on our DSDP I disconnected it. Easy to do once I found the alarm, which was just behind the rear "bumper" in a wiring rats nest there.

I like this idea. I had disconnected mine ... but now plan to reconnect it with a switch like PDR John suggested. Then I will have the best of both worlds ... a beeper when I want it and no beeper when I don't.

I did a quick check behind the bumper yesterday and think I might have spotted the alarm. I saw a little black box with two leads running to it. I didn't have time to investigate further but that might be it. And looking at the location, it might be easier to install a switch than take the nuts off the leads.

Is one of you know if there is an under dash fuse specifically for the backup alarm on the Ventana?
I would like to use that wire to switch it.
best regards

The 5 amp fuse for the backup on my 2008 ventana 3330 is in second to last compartment on passenger side. Hard to see, have to get on your knees to look at the panel. That fuse will disable the alarm and backup lights.

A trucker brought up a good point the other day when we were discussing the back up alarm while I was buying filters at Freightliner.
He suggested putting a switch on it, as stated above, so that in an accident you can deny that it was disabled. I like the switch idea, but would want it on the dash. I ran a wire the other day the length of the coach and ran a string with it so I could pull another, but the string got hung up and lost it. I don't have the energy to crawl under there again for awhile.
