Hey All,

After wrapping up out 2+ month trip the last few weeks the door catch at the top started catching. It looks like the arm suddenly sagged down so the locking/extension pins are catching and hanging up on the screen door.

Not sure how/when this started and pushing up on the arm and the pins doesn't help. Any thoughts about this?

Does the mechanism clear the entry door but not the screen ?

Could the screen door have been pushed upwards to close the jap somehow?

Same thing happened to me on my 2018 London Aire. I replaced the arm and the problem went away.

Joints have gotten worn and will need to be replaced. Contact selling dealer or NIRVC parts for a replacement.

Had the same issue on my 2017 Ventana. Replaced the arm mechanism. If I recall it was about $180 for the part.

Build quality on the part , must have gone downhill ; if 4/5 year old coaches are having to replace the mechanism .
I believe mine is original ; at least I've never had issues in the 13 years I've had the coach .

Or alternately ; perhaps the clearance ; door to frame to screen ;is greater on my vintage coach and a little sag is easily tolerated .

We had the same problem upon delivery when new and are now on our 3rd part. Within weeks of delivery one of the rivets actually broke loose and in order to close the door I had to remove the entire unit completely. Newmar replaced it and a several months later the same issue with it hitting the screen door. Newmar again replaced it while in Nappanee for warranty issues. It is again hitting the screen door.

My 2022 was hitting the screen door. I had to lower the screen door, which caused the release handle to be too low, so I had to lower the handle catch on the door.

Use caution, because if this catch is not adjusted properly, you will be unable to open the main door, as the screen door will be hung.

Test from the inside, or with someone inside to release it.

I just tackled this issue on our 2014 Ventana

Hold open bracket has riveted connections at knee joints. They get worn and sloppy so arm sags down and catches top of screen door.

Pretty easy to re & re. I used a hammer on the rivets to flatten / tighten them up - seems to have done the trick for now.

No way I am paying Newmar $ 300 plus.

Thanks for the alternate supplier - I will bookmark them in case

Thank you all for the awesome replies! Anyone have a general guideline on removing the arm? It looks like it's riveted together, but maybe those are caps hiding screws?

I think i'd rather work on getting a replacement before messing with the screen, it looks like it hasn't moved at all, so I'm pretty confident it's that arm that's sagging. It's got so much play in it now.

Pretty easy re & re. Arm has plates at door header and top of door. Simple self tapping screws ( Phillips )
I used a ladder with sliding legs. Put short leg thru door opening resting on interior step, and long leg outside to ground. Long enuf to see top of door
Might try hammering the two rivets ( tighten joints up so arm doesn’t sag and hit top of screen door )
If doesn’t work install new one
