We have the manual "L" model in our 4018 and really don't like it. First, it only makes into a small bed, just big enough for an adult to sleep at an angle.
Second, because of the design, there is extra framing right where you would typically fit in the corner, making it very uncomfortable. The cushion that slides out in the "L" is also twice as stiff as the other cushions. When you sit on the part of the "L" that slides out, you effectively block anyone from sitting in the corner, consequently, the "L" really doesn't add additional seating, unless it's little kids.
We've been actively looking at replacing it with the standard sofa which has a much better bed.
