Ventana now available with Spartan chassis in 2019

After a couple years of asking Newmar to have the Spartan chassis available on order or purchasing on a Ventana 2019 is now ready to order. The Spartan chassis will have the 5 year 75,000 mile warranty. This will rise the Ventana to a higher level of interest to more RV buyers.

Tom, I would assume there will be an up-charge. Is it $3,500, same as the Dutch Star?

I am sure there will be a up charge but remember you get a Spartan Chassis plus a 5 year 75K warranty. The Spartan chassis with a better ride, frame, cross members and electric system is worth it.

No IFS on the Spartan in the Ventana, so I'm not sure how much better the ride will be.

You failed to mention most important selling point. Spartan Chassis now comes with the Improved Digestion System "IDS". Built in and no on/off switches required, while driving down the road on that "improved ride experience" the patent pending porpoising system gently (or violently) elevates you then lowers you back down while driving, most of the time keeping you in your seat, will speed up your metabolism and keep you regular. It may even contribute to weight loss.

While at $3500 it is a bit more expensive than most diet plans this one is built in to your day and highly recommended by a select few here. Otherwise you could use that $3500 towards something in your daily life such as upgraded floors, heated floors, Girard Awnings, LED lights, Solar, wasting it on essentially the same steel as under any coach is entirely up to you. But go ahead and believe all the "betters" because that's what marketing is all about. Drive safe and lose weight while you're at it. This message is sponsored by....

Actually this might be the most important selling point -

Freightliner Warranty -

Attachment 209007

Spartan Warranty -

Attachment 209008

But does having an extra 2 year warranty on chassis components and airbags justify 3500? They both have the exact same engine and transmission warranty.

I paid 4800 for a 7 year, 100k mile extended warranty that covered the entire coach. So far I have collected over 12k in recovered repairs. I see no reason to buy the spartan based on the 5 year warranty.

I think this is more like the samsung vs apple crowd. I have had both, I prefer samsung. I understand and agree that Apple makes a good product. Sadly most people that own an Apple device (aka Fanbois) will never admit that Samsung (or any Android) phones are a good product. They lose a lot of credibility with that attitude.

I see the same from some in regards to Spartan vs Freightliner.

They are both great Chassis, and are equal for the intended purpose and coach they are built for. If this was not the case, Newmar would not offer it.

Just to complete my profile, so that others can make their own judgements of my post:

I prefer/own or Shop @:

Ford/Chevy: Chevy (have had a Ford car)
Mercedes/BMW: BMW
Taco Bell/Taco Casa: Taco Casa
Apple/Android: Android (own both)
Newmar/Entegra: Newmar

Goodyear / Michelin: Michelin
Polaris / Artic Cat: Polaris
Dell / HP: Dell
AT&T / Verizon: AT&T

I concur they are both good chassis.

Spartan is at a disadvantage to Freightliner in that they are a much smaller company and they don’t have an 800 pound gorilla like Daimler Benz to get them the best prices on raw materials and other components. Nor do they have anywhere near as broad a customer base for their RV product -

Entegra
Newmar
Foretravel
Jayco for the new Embark

Nor do they manufacture thousands of truck chassis every year to beat suppliers down on engine costs.

Consequently, they cannot build a chassis and sell it to Newmar at the same price as Freightliner and hope to get the same gross margin as FL.

So, they charge more and Newmar is now passing on some or all of the difference. Yes, they were priced the same for two years (17 and 18) but somebody was eating the difference.

It’s up to each individual to ascertain for themselves which of the many design differences between these two offerings appeal most to them. Unless you are buying a King Aire, because they only come on Spartan K3. And, of course, the New Aire only comes on an FL.

As for the extended warranty, if I was in that business and writing those contracts, I would consider the warranty differences when pricing my product. Not saying those folks do that, but the underwriters overall claims loss on the Spartan should be lower.

I agree with your comments. I should add that none of my warranty claims so far are related to the chassis. The closest was when I was having dash air problems again, but that was the evaporator and dryer that had a leak. Not a chassis supplied component.

How well did that warranty work out for the unsafe bouncing shocks issue? Warranty is only as good as the customer service that accepts something as covered under warranty. Good luck there....recent past they have failed hard on this front. It's all marketing! [moderator edit]
