Ventana pedal modification?

We have made a decision to purchase a '17 Ventana 3436. All is great except the locations of the accelerator and brake pedals. They're a bit too far away for my wife's usage. Has anyone modified the placement of the two pedals to make it easier for short people?

Pedals are mounted by the chassis manufacturer and usually pretty much set in location .
Is your coach on a Ford Chassis?
There may have been a power adjustable pedal option , but converting to it could be $$$

I thought being a 34 footer it would be gas .

If the pedals are firewall mounted , the same applies , a power adjustable set, may have been an option .
If the pedals are on the floor , like my vintage F/L chassis , there's no moving them . Adding blocks to the face of the pedals would be the only option.

Sure you don't have
adjustable pedals? Our Tiffin Phaeton on Freightliner XC does. Perfect for my DW.

Ron, if those pedals are floor mounted, you can place a block of wood, tall enough, where you can place the heal. then you can easily operate both pedals.

I had a 14VT years back and newmar techs made one for me and worked just fine and would not interfere with a taller person driving the coach. I don't have the coach anymore, but found this pic, you have to expand to see what the block looks like.

We have an 2018 Ventana 3436 and have the same problem as I am just under 5'4". Personally looked into some pedal modifications but then concerned about what that would do for my husband. Not ideal but ended up finding in the internet a pair of slip on shoes that have a 2" soul to them. With the seat all the way forward, in the lowest position and tilted a little forward, it does end up working for me and it's always a story, hehe! My husband has a different name for my shoes but we won't go there! It may be a start as it's an inexpensive option until you decide to do something more permanent.

Our 18 LA does have adjustable pedals with the Spartan chassis but the wife being 5ft. 2 still had a issue with the gas pedal. After taking 2 day driving school in Gillette Wy last summer he suggested we cut up a knee pad to put under gas pedal were her foot was just hanging there. Ended up being double thick which we then put velcro on the floor so we could remove it when I was driving. Now her foot can rest on the cut up section of knee pad which makes her right foot not just hanging there. Using cruise control is great but you still need to drive without it so this worked out great.
The RV Driving School was outstanding and just what Teri needed to start driving the LA pulling the Durango. If your looking for a great RV Driving School they are great.

Thanks for all the replies folks. It was very much appreciated. Looks like we will go with blocks on the go pedal and maybe even the stop pedal. The shoe idea definitely has some merit also for my 5'2" better half. Never dreamed there was that many thick soled shoes and wow, some are really extreme.Had to chuckle at those.

Thanks again all.

Let us know how it goes...we have the same complaint and even asked Freightliner about it when I was in Gaffney....they felt any upgrades would be pricey and complicated. And we are not really short at 5’10” and 5’8”. But still feel like we are wearing the steering wheel. We may try small blocks to see if that allows us to stay a bit further from the wheel.

Good to know we were not the only ones who saw this as an issue...

BTW - The 2019 Ventana has adjustable pedals...

Thanks.

I had the same problem on my 14 Ventana 3436. Both the DW and I are on the shorter side. As I was unable to have the dealer modify the location of the pedals, I made extensions from some 1/2 in plywood. At the time I couldn't find any thing on the internet. I have since seen a pro bus driver with a nice looking adapter on an accelerator pedal.
I glued two pieces of plywood together to make the thickness 1 in. It was a little bit of work to cut grooves in the side of the piece for the accelerator pedal so the existing rubber mat would fit over it, but worked out well. I made a similar piece for the brake pedal and fastened both to the metal pedals with 10/32 machine screws tapped into the metal pedals for security. The accelerator pedal was also moved about an inch closer to the seat, by pulling up the carpet and re-bolting it to the floor. Two of the original bolt holes were re-used. The brake pedal cannot be moved without a huge amount of effort due to airlines, etc. All in all, the whole project cost less that 20 bucks in materials. It's impossible to tell they are there and after a 5200 mile trip, they worked comfortably.
