Wall slide on strike 17 DSDP

Arrived at our CG after a day of traveling and the wall slide did not want to extend. Left it alone for an hour or so at it worked without difficulty. Any ideas?

Could the batteries have been low, charging problem while traveling?
Maybe charged up after being connected at CG.

We were advised to be plugged into shore power and the engine running to move the slides.

When you first tried to extend the slide was your shore line plugged in?
If you weren't as SPK64 said your batteries have a charging problem because they should have been fully charged after driving a long time, your alternator and B.I.M. should be charging your batteries.
Should have house cable plugged in anyway to move slides.
Also do you have the HWH FWS, could be something to do with that system.

During our factory pickup, our tech advised to have shore power or the generator on before trying to move slides. Our slides will not move if engine running or key is on.

Very strange, this is our second coach and have never done that not does anyone I know. I think your tech is misinformed. Your hydraulic pump and batteries should handle it fine. Definitely won't work with ignition on.

Factory suggests shore power or Generator for the HWH full wall slides. Batteries should do it after a drive but if they don't and it stops and won't restart it will take a long time to finish the extension or retraction using those long emergency screws. Why chance it....

Do you think they would get stuck if tried on batteries and wouldn't finish? I would think just starting the generator should finish?

Just an alternative thought, but more than once I've tried to extend with my ignition key in the wrong position. Freaked me out the first time it 'wouldn't work.' The problem is doubly confounding as one needs to start/air up to retract the slides.

We were given the same instructions during PDI.

I have found if my house are low the slide won't move until I have shore power. Also like others here if the ignition switch is on mine won't move.
