"Wannabe Newmar Owner" questions

It has been a number of years since we had an RV, and that was a Winnebago Vista 21B. But, now we have been looking again and have decided that a Ventana 35 foot model is what we are looking for, but they are a little hard to find used.

We just looked at a 2011 Ventana 3433 that was cosmetically in really good condition. It had 16,000 miles on it and had the original (2010) tires and batteries. There are no maintenance records available on it. We are concerned that the coach has been sitting for a long time and wondered what things (in addition to replacing the tires) we should be concerned about if we consider purchasing it?

And, if anyone knows of a 3434 for sale, that is REALLY our favorite floor plan!

Thank you for any guidance you can give us.

I own a 2013 3434 and we are very happy with our decision. It has had it's issues, but Newmar was very responsive to our problems, and to date, I am not out of pocket on any major repairs.

One piece of advise on a used unit is if you can get the Newmar 6 digit build number, or the VIN, contact Customer Service and they will be able to identify any previous warranty repairs which had been performed.

If I were buying a 5 year old unit, Yes I would replace the tire, and would also take it to a Cummins or major dealer for fluid changes in order to establish a baseline going forward. Others may recommend fluid analysis, but the current owner would need to work with you on that.

Good luck, Las

If the unit looks to be in good condition and you like it, it's worth consideration. I would suggest new steer tires as a minimum. I would get a 3rd party inspection to test all systems and have them pull oil samples on engine, tranny, before it is serviced. Make your contract contingent upon the results.
