Water heater controls question

On my 2007 KSDP I have two different sets of controls for the water heater. There is one that looks like a house style duplex light switch plate with switch and fault light, just marked water heater.

The second one is a smaller unit with a S logo on it.

That is the one I use when I am on shore power, and Newmar said that one was for 110 v operation.

That never made sense and it would mean that the one with the big house duplex style on/off was to use on propane.

The manual does not show both switch options.

As I don't want to needlessly burn LP, can anyone clarify?

I have a 2017 Ventana LE with the same set-up. When I was at the Factory last month, I was told the small one with the "S" is for propane, while the other one is when we are hooked up to electricity. I too did not want to burn up our propane, so I turn off the propane switch (the one with a S), and leave the electricity side on. When I am not hooked up, and I want hot water, I will turn the propane switch on for a short period of time.

Thanks Janet,

That seemed logical to me until the Newmar guy told me the opposite. I will now go and change the switches!

You will find HW operation here.

You will find owners guide here. READ instructions.

All links below in my signature have answers for your Newmar.

The electric switch is correct, you also have a switch on face of WH ,black, that has to be turned on, in the winter you would turn off if no water in tank so your electric element does not burn out.
