Water hose reel replacement hose

Does anyone know of source for a replacement hose for the water hose reel? It appears to be made by Glendinning.

Glendinning makes the reel. Any 1/2 inch fresh water hose will work.

Got this off Amazon and installed it this March. It was a perfect match with the old one I replaced. The only thing I had to do was cut to legnth of the old one. Am very happy with it. Make sure you get a 1/2" hose like the old one. If you get the 5/8" it will take up more room on your reel and the legnth of your new hose will have to be shorter. Click image for larger version

While your at it go get a can of red spray paint so you can clean the reel up and paint it to look new.

I would be careful of what hose you buy, noting what it's rated to. My DS water hose on the Glendinning reel is rated to 150psi. I like the idea that it's rated that high as I run the regulator on the coach end. Some of these standard RV hoses may not be rated as high. I blew up the photo above, but didn't see a psi rating on the package.

After extended the hose to check its length, I found it has a proprietary connection instead of the regular water connection. Anyone know how to deal with this without placing a union in the existing hose.

I had to replace my hose. I called Glendinning and they said to send it in to them to replace or repair. I cut the clamp (which you can get at Lowes) and removed the hose it is just a hose barb and I used a worm gear clamp (hose clamp). They do sell a 5/8" hose reel also so just double check your hose size. It is also a very easy repair.

JP,

Can you send a photo of your connection to the Glendinning reel.

Thanks,

Rex

Sorry Rex I just looked and I must not have taken any pics. There is 4 or 5 1/4-20 bolts with nyloc nuts that hold the reel together then a clamp that holds the hose to the center of the reel (the white plastic hub) also on the hose is a black covered spring to help protect the hose from kinking at the bend then the hose attaches to the ss hose barb the clamp that Glendinning uses is a pex tubing clamp. The ss hose barb is part of the hub that allows the reel to rotate you can remove it and lubricate the o-ring inside. I wish I would have taken pics. This is not a very hard job. my hose sprung a leak in a camp ground last summer and I was able to disassemble and repair at my site in about 2 hours max.

Rex, I've used fresh water hoses from a wide variety of sources and have yet to find any that are better quality than these:

Larry,

Thanks. Yes, I use the 4-foot RV Water Filter store hoses for the connection from the shore water to my sediment filter and pressure regulator. Great hoses.

The issue with the Glendinning water hose reel is the connection the the reel since I don't want to cut and splice the existing hose.
