After a rain fall we get water accumulated on top of Kitchen slide, I have been brushing most of this off before bringing in slide.
Is this necessary or should I just bring it in and let water run off??
or Does this topper need the tension increased???

Rick

I would think there should not be a great deal of sag in your toppers, but without pictures it's hard to determine whether or not yours are sagging...
I would say it's normal to take something and fluff the topper if there's a sag caused by an abnormally large amount of water, but I'm also thinking the topper should be tight enough to shed that water on the way in...

As I no longer have toppers I don't have that issue...

Rick: I think you'll find out from everyone that it's the nature of the beast. On my big slide the topper is so tight it bows inward but in a hard rain it still makes a huge lake, sagging almost down on the slide itself. I send my wife up there with a long squeege to brush it off before closing. I brought it in once when it was full and ended up with a lot of runoff inside. Some people bring it half way in and let it stop running off before closing it all the way.

Hi Rick,
We have the same coach. My kitchen slide has no topper. It is on the passenger side of the coach and is protected by extending the main awning a few feet to cover the slide.

The living area driver side slide does have a topper. It does collect water. There is a 4 inch overlap from the edge of the topper to the end of the slide. When retracting the slide the water will run off the topper but misses the slide due to the overlap.

Here is a discussion about water on toppers and awnings and what some people do so the inside floor will not have a flood.

Awnings & slide toppers with water on them.

Latitude - I just finished a factory service appointment & asked that they address the same topic. The techs took 3 turns on each end to tighten the topper, but after the next rain it filled with water again. When I spoke to them, they said it was as tight as they could make it without damaging the roller tube.

I think the problem lies in the length of that particular topper, as none of the others do this.

My off door slide has accumulated water since I bought the coach new. Finally, a Tech at World Wide RV, Mesa, AZ found out why: the roof and the awning box are attached and siliconed, but he found the sealer was lacking. Thus; the water would leak between the roof and the awning box to rest on the slide, and soak me when the slide was drawn in.
