Here’s a question I always wondered about…with city water still on, when you turn on your water pump does the pump take from your fresh water tank or just continue to use city water? I like to use and refresh my fresh tank water and it would be nice to not have to turn off city water each time.

If water pressure from "city water" is below the set pressure shutoff of your water pump, your water pump should cycle with city water hooked up. If city water pressure is higher than pump pressure your pump should not cycle.

The water pump will generally boost your flow rate in the coach, especially if you're using a pressure regulator that might be a bit flow restrictive.

Pump will NOT start/run if City Water pressure is higher then pump start pressure set point
*start set point is typically 30# or 40# (depending on pump---15# difference between start/stop set points)
*pump sucks from fresh water tank. Pump and City water fed SAME Cold water lines which then supplies water to water heater/ht water system

If hooked up to city water you can turn pump ON but it will not run unless system pressure drops but will shutoff when system pressure increases

City water inlet assembly has a spring loaded check valve...it will close if pump discharge pressure is 1# higher then city water inlet pressure.
Prevents backflowing into CG water system (or leaking out connection when not hooked up)

We have used fresh water tank/pump exclusively since 2008
Same consistent flow/pressure regardless of where we go
Easy to flip switch off when leaving/going to bed
Can hear pump short cycle if a leak should occur
*no flooded RV

CG water used to filled Fresh water tank or general use period

I believe you have the auto fill function, like my Essex, I set up the auto fill and have my pump on 100% of the time. I like to keep fresh water coming and going from my water tank. So when on auto fill, water comes from my tank and fills at set point. City water on all the time.
