Water pump connected to which battery bank

Yesterday, on our 2019 New Aire, the Silverleaf system displayed a Low Chassis Battery error. According to Silverleaf the voltage was 11.9 but was charging (lightening bolt icon). I knew that was strange because it usually shows over 13v when charging. We were also connected to a 50 amp pedestal at a nice park.

Within a couple of minutes, the charge voltage jumped to 13.4 and all seemed to be working well.

I started to wonder why the chassis voltage would be so low. As I was looking at the Silverleaf display, my wife turned on a faucet and I saw the Chassis voltage drop to 11.9. We had the water pump on due to low pressure.

So my question, is the water pump really wired to the chassis battery bank and not the house bank?

Thanks.

The pump may not nessesserally connected to the chassis battery, but during charging, all batteries are connected together thru the charge bridge/isolation solenoid.

If your drawing down your house battery under a heavy load, the solenoid will open, breaking that connection, but only after a delay. That stops frequent switching on and off.

That's not to say your water pump draws enough amps to do that. Something else may be going on.

Thank you. That makes a lot of sense. I’ll have to watch while not charging.

As a follow-up. I waited until the batteries were no longer charging (at least according to the charging icon in SilverLeaf). Turned the water on running the water pump and sure enough the Chassis voltage dropped from 12.9 to 11.9 while running the water pump. The House Battery remained constant. Turn the water off and the Chassis Battery jumps back up to 12.9.

You would think after owning this coach for 19 months I would know this stuff. It sure seems like the water pump is pulling directly from the Chassis Battery?

Turn a fawcett and water pump on with no external power, then kill the house battery master switch. This will answer your question. Mine is connected to the house batteries.
