Water Valve Replacement - Thetford Toilet

Hi - need to replace the above valve and curious as to whether other owners use the foam ring (supplied with the replacement valve) at toilet the base or purchase the standard wax ring used in houses. In the past I used the wax ring as I questioned the longevity and durability of the foam but don’t have the technical training to know if my approach was correct for an RV. Thx.

I pulled out our toilet last fall and replaced both valves, as one started leaking. I used the foam ring when replacing the toilet in the RV. I did not notice any problems with the original foam ring, so I used the supplied ring. I completely cleaned the toilet on the driveway and let it drip dry. Total time including drying was about 1.5 hours. No problems so far.
