Weather Pro Awning

Has anybody been able to solve the problem with awning coming in due to the weather being too hot? Ours will just come in when there is no noticeable wind just hot outside. NewMar says that is what it is supposed to do.

Mine does that too once in awhile, I thought it was the way sunlight hit it. It has been out in some pretty good wind and wouldn't come in . I finally shut the automatic part off.

I just wound up turning the auto Off and whenever we leave the coach I pull it in. I just can't see why it would close because of being hot. Makes no sense, at keast to me.

I have a 2011 Canyon Star and have had lots of trouble with the awning but not rolling up because of heat... but I have not been in excessive or prolonged heat. Newmar Corp told me I should never let the awning get wet. What is the point of having it if not to provide shelter for your "stuff" when it rains. I'm not talking tropical storms, just rain. I can find nothing in the info on the awning that supports that response. So Newmar will tell you things just to get you to go away when they don't know the answer.

With all the problems I read about with auto awnings, I'm sure glad I didn't spend the $1100 or so to add that option.......my manual awning works fine!

Me too!! When we ordered our 2002 DSDP they listed it as an option but told us they were having too much trouble with them and weren't installing them.
Guess they're still ahving trouble and my new 9000 (thanks to a freak heavy rain storm in Fresno) works just fine.

I'll think of both of you each time I open or close mine with one finger.

I'm on the other side of this coin. My awning retracts when it is suppose to. With the "cookie shade" added to the roof mount there is no retracting due to heat. The awning will kneel in rain, just like advertised. My awning is 21' long. If anyone is having difficulty with the awning kneeling, consider opening the awning only until the valance is at 6 o'clock. Do not open the awning "all the way". When the valance is at 6 o'clock, the arms (at the knee joint) will have flexibility not available if opened all the way. This will allow the awning to kneel in the rain and flex in the wind.

True, and it's rewards. I haven't cracked by head on the arm ( too high ) like I used to do on the manual one. I love the sign some put on them " hit head here "

Gary,

My awning has the wind sensor mounted on the end of awning; its a shiny dist at the end of the front arm. Supposed to sense difference in temp when wind blows across it. Doesn't seem to come in when wind is blowing just when temperature is high???

Mine works fine except in Auto. I guess I can strain myself to push one button. After all the MH came with the thing attached already. The only one that never worked right and finally quit is the stupid door awning. I finally gave up fixing it and gutted it and then put just the casing back up because behind the door awning is 2 screw holes and another hole for the wiring. So no one really know the difference right now.
