Weight Issue - Newmar Louisville Show and Tampa Show
Is anyone at the Louisville show this week? I know Newmar is there and if so, I would be curious to hear if anyone is talking to them about the front axle weight issues being discussed on IRV2 around the 2016 43’ Dutch Stars? And if so, what answers they are hearing from Newmar regarding this?
Same question to anyone who is thinking about going to the Tampa show in January. I am very interested to hear how Newmar is addressing this issue, if at all, at these shows.
Thanks!

Mark, I know that the folks from RVOne are going to talk to them about the issue. The dealer is very much aware of the problem and is anxious to hear what Newmar has to say about the weight issue.

I might have helped, I canceled my order with them and gave them the facts, they have been reading the forum.
Also, I think the Ventana line is also involved and has similar overweight issues.

It seems to be a shame that everytime you use the rig you have to weigh it just to make sure the family can ride with you or if you can fill the water or fuel.
They just cut corners to close and I for one dont wish to be at the upper limits of the axle or frame limits.
Much rather pay what it takes to be safe,I hope they engineer for safety and what the intended use is of the coach.

I will be at the Tampa Show. Hopefully, by then the plan/fix will be in place.

I will be attending the Tampa show. If folks want to tee-up questions for me to ask Newmar or Freightliner let me know.

Mark, Excellent post. These 2 shows will both be attended by many Newmar employees. What better place to get an idea of what the company is planning to do. They may dodge phone calls and emails, but they can't ignore a potential customer standing in front of you asking the tough questions. I'll be following this thread with great interest. Thanks.

I believe you will hear only this, "we are having F/L engineering develop a proportioning valve like we have used in the past and when it is place you will have to derate your hitch to 10K". "This will fix the issue." It this point there is zero upside to saying anything else.
Let's say that our personal engineering skills are less than accurate and it does fix the issue then we move on to the next "fix".
If not in only 5 months from the Tampa show the 2017's will be out. Newmar will let us know, indirectly, how big an issue this is when we see the changes to the 17 model year.
No axle upgrade no issue.
When is the expected installation time of the first valve? Has anyone heard yet? Randy

Unless something has changed, Louisville is a manufacturer - dealer show not open to the general public. In our case a friend who had a RVIA business used to arrange for us to attend, but the last time we were there, the credential process had become far more strict.

It's not unsafe to be near the upper limits, as long as you don't chronically and excessively exceed those limits. In many cases, when you full-time you live your entire life at or near max gross weight. My '02 DS has the 12K Lb front axle, and it has spent at least the last 3-1/2 years at about 11.8K.
