Taking notes

Note to self: Short screws are a good thing.

Wow! Got some major surgery underway! Thanks for the super valuable pictures!!!

Just curious however. Electric gate valves? My first reaction is why? Seems like this would be an unnecessary increase in complexity for something that screams "simplify, simplify, simplify!" Maybe there are some unique benefits that I am unaware of?

Tom - Noticing your water softener controls on your panel. I think I may have seen a comment or two from you about the physical softener placement near the oasis/distribution module, but have you written up any details on your installation?

A few years back we had someone else remove this same panel, not sure what he was up too but pictures will be different, this link is in the middle of QT's 1 & 2 with MOD's of that time that you may find useful.

Speaking of wet bay projects. Installed a Thetford Sanicon Waste Extraction System. The absolute best thing since sliced bread. No more sewer pipes, hoses, fittings, or leveling stands.

On the positive side, the hole was nicely centered!

No need to squat under a slide to dump, you can dump from inside the coach using the remote switches. If you have sanicon, no need to juggle around the hoses to get to the T-handle. It is in no way required, it's just something different. Also potential smart phone operations of your dumping. Yes, there is a master on/off switch to enable/disable the system in the wet bay so it would only be ON when you are connected to the CG.

Looks like the 2027 Ventessex is coming along nicely, Neal. When does the self-driving option go in?

Is the joint glued or is it Teflon taped?

Do you need to take off the front to get at the joint?

I do not know why Newmar does not make it 3”?

Now that you can get at it, is there any reason why not use 3”

It’s threaded with plumbers putty added.

Reason is cost cutting. 3 inch drain is better for the tank. Vortex and cleaning action. It may also be driven by the Valletta wye valve they use. Don’t know.

Do you need to remove the panel to get at it?

Look forward to the finish project. I have the Drainmaster on my wish list.

Actually I do not think it's plumbers putty that is used. I'm going to remove the fitting and use this stuff instead:

https://amzn.to/2Bi7Z4P

I noticed how the threads were coated even after removal, plumbers putty will not get into the threads. All that I put on returned to me as it was tightened.
