We own a 2018 Newmar New Aire 3343 and pull an enclosed trailer with a side by side in it or we pull our 2017 Toyota Highlander on our aluminum flatbed trailer. We could not pull our Toyota flat so we went with a light weight trailer for our existing car. We didn't want to purchase another vehicle small enough for our enclosed trailer and we didn't want to get rid of our existing vehicle so we went with the least cost route. The flatbed trailer is only 1500lbs and our vehicle is 4600 so we're only around 6100lbs total.

The only issue with that is we have to be picky about our camp site sizes or make sure the campground has an overflow area for trailers.

We just purchased a 2018 Elantra Sport (manual). I mounted the Blue Ox baseplate this weekend and will wire the taillights soon. Still trying to decide on a supplemental brake system. Scored a brand new Blue Ox towbar on Facebook Marketplace for $150!

We tow a 2014 Cadillac SRX. It's been relegated to being a toad since it seems to like being towed. Meaning I don't trust it anymore. So many issues. If it breaks down on a trip I would probably abandon it. I hate that car.

We have about the same thing. What do you use for a breaking system?

We tow a 2021 Grand Cherokee (Summit). Tow with Roadmaster tow bar and use a Tow Defender to keep rocks off the Jeep. Air Force 1 braking system. Everything works Great together.

We use a RoadMaster Nighthawk row bar and the Demco Stay-IN-Play Duo braking system. Love them both and the Stay-In-Play is really nice since there is nothing to store or move. Plugin, switch on and off we go.

We recently purchased a 2017 3403 Bay Star. Towing a 2018 Chevy Sonic RS automatic. Tows great. I got it for its light weight, and we like the way it handles and rides. The hatchback let’s me stow a 42 gallon Barker dump tank and my Clam enclosure.

We have a 2018 Bay Star 3401.
We flat tow a 2014 Subaru Outback manual using a Blue Ox set up.
Zero problems in 14 months of full time travel.

Lightbulb The Subaru Option

We tow a 2018 Subaru Forester stick shift behind our New Aire and it tows easily. We have a towbar and Air force One braking system. We have had a few tire blowouts on the toad, however (one front, one rear). We don't know why. The Forester is a good little SUV weighing only 3300 lb. Newer Subarus cannot be flat towed however because of the CVR transmission that is standard since 2019. No more stick shift on Subarus.

We have a 2018 Baystar 3113. I tow our vintage BMW 2002 race car in a featherlite 20' enclosed trailer. I do have a trailer brake controller to assist stopping. I get roughly 7 mpg overall and can tow easily at 65-70 mph safely. Total weight of car and trailer is about 4,700 lbs.

Jeeps are very popular for flat towing. The RVgeeks have a really well done post on the topic:
