What is it?

2010 DS at the top of the door what does this do. It slides up and down , hook on door,, don't think it has anything to do with lock
Second ? the door stay open detent hardly holds door open anyway to adjust?

It's the air lock. When you release the parking brake, it jams up to keep the wind pulling the top of the door out.

Do not attempt to open the entry door without engaging the parking brake. Don't ask me how I know you can break that part if you do so.

Thanks for the tip. I suppose I better not disengage parking brake till DW is in and door shut.

As for holding the door open I would guess that the metals split clip that is on the peg" broke off and goes into the slot that is supposed to hold it tight and open. No one makes that little split ring or clip. Last I knew one had to buy the entire assembly that fastens to the to of the door a d frame of the coach. I put a nylon tie in that slot and it tightens it up and makes it work again. Will last a long time if the door is not slammed into it and breaks it. BreK it and is is an cheap and easy fix.

That little plastic part at the top of the door costs $45 from Newmar and is susceptible to breaking and or cracking. I had to replace mine this summer.
